Mangaluru: Annual sports meet of Expert PU College held

Mangaluru, Nov 1: Annual sports meet of Expert PU College Kodialbail Mangalore was held on 28th October 2018, Sunday at Mangala stadium. 

Sports meet is inaugarated by CEO  of  Hosadigantha Mr.Prakash P S. 

He motivated the students to take part in sporots and to keep the body&mind fresh & young & energetic. 

He narrated the story of sculpter How sculptur make a blind stone into a beautiful sculpture by carving & hammering it, similarly teachers at Expert train the students to make them a better human being to build the nation. 

He also added and said that be a “Rama” Not a “Ravan”

Sports secretory of students union Gourav Pai compered  oth taking ceremoney. 

Principal of Expert P U college Kodialbail delivered welcome speech Chairman of Expert Group of Institutions Prof. Narendra L Nayak, sports convenor Sri Pramod Kini, Yoga Ratna Gopalakrishna Delampady were presided on the dais.  

Mrs. Zita Dsouza HoD of English dept compered the inauguration ceremony.

Valedictory function

Mr. Vikas Puthran- International athlete was the chief guest for the function.

He addressed the students and  guided the students saying

“sports should not be a one day activity we have to make some time between buzy schedule, because sports teach you not to give up attitude in all the aspects of  life. 

Mr. S.S.Nayak, charted accountant & advicer of Expert Group of institutions, Said that sound body & sound mind always make you perfect. 

Prizes for various events were distributed to the students by dignitaries. 

Meghana of Batch E bagged individual championsip for girls

Vismay patel of Batch G bagged individual championship for boys.

Batch C-II PUC won the prize for Marchfast. 

Batch G won overall championship  tropy.

Niha Fahim, Lecturer in chemistry compered the programme Mr. Pramod Kini delivered vote of thanks. 

Ankush N Nayak, Director of information technology, Expert group of Institutions, Ustad Rafeeq khan trustee of Expert Group, Prof.  Ramachandra bhat, Principal were presided on the stage.

The Alumni Association members along with the members of Women’s Cell organized a programme to celebrate Women’s day and felicitate the student achievers in various fields.

The programme began with a prayer song by the members of the Women’s cell. Among the dignitaries were Sr Dr M Jeswina A.C, Principal, St Agnes College, Mrs Geanette Dsouza, Vice President, Agnesian Alumni Association, Ms Vivid Dsouza, Convenor of the programme and Secretary Agnesian Alumni Association, Mrs Jyothi Cutinha, Joint Secretary Agnesian Alumni Association. 

The college president, Ms Jerusha Maben welcomed the gathering followed by a welcome dance. The student achievers of the college were honoured by the Agnesian Alumni Association;

Agnesian Outstanding Leader Award sponsored by Mrs Carol Pais in honour of her parents Mr Philip and Mrs Mariette Pais is awarded to Ms Jerusha Maben of III BCom.

Agnesian All-Rounder Award sponsored by Mrs Marjorie Texeira is awarded to Ms Anna Una Crasta of II MA English.

Agnesian Scholar Award sponsored by Dr Meera Aranha is awarded to Ms Shane Joveeta Jovet of III BCom.

Agnesian Best Sports Woman Award sponsored by Mrs Daisy Coelho is awarded to Ms Anusha K.J of III BSc.

Agnesian Best NSS Volunteer is awarded to Nerissa Clementina Noronha of III BCom.

Agnesian Best NCC Cadet Award (Army Wing) is awarded to CPL Melani Lobo of III BCom.

Agnesian Best NCC Cadet Award (Air Wing) is awarded to CWO Vanditha Anusha Dsouza of III BSc.

Sr Dr M Jeswina AC presided over the programme congratulated all the student achievers and wished them the best.

Mrs Carol Pais compered the programme and Ms Vivid Dsouza, Secretary of Alumni Association proposed the vote of thanks.

Mangaluru, Jan 2: Shwetha Rasquinha, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Social Work, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, has been awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by the Mangalore University for her thesis titled “Effectiveness of Social work intervention on caretakers of cancer patients- A social work study in Mangalore”.

She did her studies under the guidance of Dr Rameela Shekhar, Professor (Rtd), School of Social work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru.

Ms Shwetha Rasquinha hails from Vittal, D/o Vincent Rasquinha and Late Regina Rasquinha, and is the second person to complete doctoral studies from the Vittal Parish.

Her colleagues and well-wishers have congratulated her for her highest achievement in academics and successful completion of quality research.

Mangaluru: COVID-19 has disrupted the traditional academic year.  Due to the on-going pandemic situation and the financial crisis, the management of The Shepherds' International Academy, Mangalore (TSIA) has decided to reduce the annual school fees by 50% for the academic year 2020-21.

In a media release, TSIA correspondent stated that even though the school hasn't met the regular operating expenses, the management's decision is for the benefit of the communities.

The correspondent also informed that TSIA will start online classes  on receipt of the official nod from the Govt. Educational department.
