Mangaluru: Atlantic Leisure to host IT Cricket Bash 2018 on April 21, 22

Mangaluru, Apr 19: Atlantic Leisure, a city-based non-profit trust is organising a cricket tournament – IT Cricket Bash 2018, bringing together Information Technology companies from Mangaluru and Udupi.

The tournament will be held on 21st and 22nd of April 2018 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., at the NMPT Cricket Ground, Panambur in Mangaluru.

Twelve teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament and will include technology professionals from Infosys, Mphasis, Robosoft (Udupi), Perform Group and Atlantic Data amongst others.

The tennis-ball, limited-over cricket tournament is scheduled in a league-format at the preliminary stage, followed by semi-finals and a final. The final match will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, the 22ndof April.

The tournament winner will take home a glittering trophy along with a cash prize of ₹ 25,000 and the runner-up team will take home a cash prize of ₹ 15,000. The player of the tournament will also receive a trophy and a cash prize.

The organisers have reiterated that this tournament is a novel opportunity for the technology community of the region to come together at a sporting event, as well as it will be an exhibition of their cricketing talent for all the cricket enthusiasts of the city to come and watch.

Altantic Data Bureau Services is the main sponsor of the inter-company cricket tournament, and is supported by Axis Bank, Gaurav Homestay, Anmol, Tandoor Bar and Restaurant, Pana Global School, Dina Builders, Chiramith Precision, Asar Cold Drinks, Suraksha Clinic and a few private individuals.

Bengaluru, Mar 28: Karnataka Director General of Police Praveen Sood on Saturday asked philanthropists who want to support the poor during the lockdown to leave food at the nearby police station, who will ensure that it reaches the needy.

The DGP has asked the Bengaluru City police Commissioner to take steps in this regard and ensure fair distribution.

"All philanthropists, in case you want to support poor. Leave cooked, packed, simple food at the police station and it will reach poor. @CPBlr pl announce a nodal officer for deciding the police station for fair distribution," Sood wrote on his official twitter handle.

Responding to the DGP's tweet, city police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao appointed Joint Commissioner (Crime) as a nodal officer.

"Sandeep Patil, IPS, Joint Commissioner, CRIME at 9480801011 is the officer nominated from Bangalore City Police to receive and acknowledge donation of food and consumables for distribution to police and those in need," Rao tweeted.

Meanwhile, the city police has also initiated measures to take those in critical medical emergency to the nearest medical facility.

"We @BlrCityPolice are at your service 24/7 to take you to nearest medical facility in critical medical emergency, dialysis, chemo, emergent heart issues etc PLEASE CALL 100 Misuse may affect someones life! Be responsible #CoronaLockdown is National Duty #Covid19India," Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration), Bengaluru, Hemant Nimbalkar tweeted.

Bengaluru police's initiative of distributing food, snacks, water and certain essential requirements to those in need has received wide appreciation.

While some police stations are already providing food to poor and those in need by collecting it from sponsors, couple of them have even hired a cook for the needy.

The lockdown has affected the poor who depend on their daily wages for livelihood.

Bengaluru, July 13: The results of the recently concluded II PUC examinations in Karnataka will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14, at 11:30 am.

The results, according to Primary and Secondary Education minister S Suresh Kumar, will be sent in the form of SMS-es to the registered mobile numbers of the students by 11:30 am.

Over 6.5 lakh students had appeared for the II PUC exams. 

Even though examinations for most of the subjects was completed in March, students had to wait close to three months, due to nationwide lockdown, to appear for the last exam -- for English -- which was held on 18th June.

Tumuku, Jul 6: Senior Congress leader and Kunigal MLA Dr H D Ranganathm tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The 48-year-old Congress legislature, a doctor by himself, was admitted to Manipal hospital and recovering, he said in a tweet.

Dr Ranganath said he took all precautions, yet could not save himself from the virus and advice people to not to take the contagion lightly.
