Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Mysuru to get German model of policing

Bengaluru, Jul 2: Home Minister G Parameshwara has said that prominent cities in Karnataka will get a German model of policing and traffic management.

GermanSpeaking to media persons here on Friday the minister said: “The German state of Bavaria uses latest technology for effective management of traffic. The same model will be adopted in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru and other major cities where traffic management has become a challenge,”

Parameshwara and a team of senior police officers from Karnataka recently toured Germany to study the policing system in Bavaria whose capital is Munich. The minister signed a memorandum of understanding with Bavarian officials for mutual co-operation in traffic management and policing.

Parameshwara said Munich was one of the safest cities in the world. A detailed study of the Bavarian system of policing was conducted during the visit. In Bavaria, top priority is given to the safety of women, children and senior citizens. They have successfully implemented a people-friendly policing system. Over 82% of the population in Bavaria is happy with the system. The same model will be implemented in Bengaluru, he said.

As per the MoU, police personnel from Bengaluru will be sent to Bavaria for training. Bavarian officials will also visit Bengaluru for this purpose. Awareness will be raised among schoolchildren on traffic and law and order with the help of Bavarian officials, he said.

The Home Minister said a coastal police training academy would be set up on 25 acres of land in Udupi with a financial assistance of Rs 100 crore from the Centre. Automatic identification system, distress roaming system, boat collar coding system, etc will be used for patrolling the entire coastline in the state, he added.

What about bribes will increase or remain the same...if policemen did not take bribes at least people will change themselves to obey the law...
At least give them better salaries to fill their stomachs than we paying to fill their pockets.....technology will not help people follow rules and expect Lisa loss of lives.....

Mangaluru, Apr 22: City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha, on Wednesday, interacted with families of Covid-19 warriors of the Police Department through a special video conference to infuse confidence in them.

He spoke to the family members of the police personnel who, along with ASHA workers, are monitoring the home quarantined people and even assist them in supplying essentials and medicines.

Most of the family member of the police personnel were of North Karnataka origin and the Commissioner asked them to stay safe by staying at home and explained to them the good work done by their family members in the Police Department.

Bengaluru, Feb 5: New Tulu movie Pingara has bagged the NETPAC International Jury Award at the 12th edition of Bengaluru International Film Festial (BIFFes) on Wednesday.

Written and directed by Preetham R Shetty, the movie revolves around people who worship daivas (spirits) of Tulu Nadu.

The narrative goes back and forth in time, to tell the story of a family to Sinchana (Chaitanya Chandramohan), a journalist from Bengaluru who visits a village in Tulu Nadu to ‘write on Tulu culture.’

The film speaks about the caste system in Tulu Nadu and the struggle for land in the post-independence period.

Bengaluru, Jul 12: Karnataka on Sunday registered 71 COVID-19 deaths, its highest single day count, and 2,627 fresh cases, pushing the tally of infections in the state to 38,843, the health department said.

The total positive cases include 22,746 active cases and 15,409 discharges, the department said in its daily bulletin.

The total active cases include 532 people admitted in the ICUs across the state.

Of the 71 fatalities, a record 45 were reported in Bengaluru alone including the death of 16 day-old baby girl and 17-year-old girl with chronic kidney disease, taking the total mortalities in the city to 274.

Among the districts, where new cases were reported, Bengaluru urban accounted for 1,525 cases, followed by Dakshina Kannada with 196, Dharwad 129, Yadagiri 120, and 19 in Bengaluru Rural.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 8.39 lakh samples have been tested including 20,050 on Sunday alone, of which 7.80 lakh tested negative.

Other than Bengaluru, five fatalities were reported in Dakshina Kannada, three each in Mysuru, Hassan, Davangere and Belagavi, two each in Haveri and Bagalkote and one each in Dharwad, Koppal, Tumakuru, Vijayapura and Chamarajanagar.

While majority of those who died of coronavirus suffered from Severe Acute Respiratory Illness and Influenza Like Illness, significantly 21 victims did not have any pre-medical conditions while eight were the asymptomatic patients with pre-medical conditions.
