Mangaluru, Dec 7: Mangalore City Police have booked a case against a person for allegedly demanding the 'encounter' of former Union Minister and Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary. The suspect who claimed to be an ardent supporter in his statement said that he was upset with Poojary for his pro-Ram Temple remarks, however had no criminal intent.

On Thursday, the Kavoor police booked a case against Hakeem Puttur under IPC 504 (intentionally trying to provoke breach of the peace) and IPC 507 (criminal intimidation). The development comes less than a week after the alleged voice message circulated against 81-year old veteran Congress leader.

In the 'audio', Hakeem has allegedly criticized Poojary, after the leader spoke in favour of the construction of Ram Mandir. Hakeem further demanded that Poojary needs to be 'encountered' or deported from the country along with everyone who demands for Ram Mandir.

"Muslims should not support Congress until Poojary is suspended from the party. Poojary was born to RSS. He has association with the RSS and tries to hide his identity behind the Congress mask. I have been repeating this fact since 10 years but I was rebuked. However, things became clear after he invited Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and other RSS affiliates and not then (Karnataka) Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his book release.”

Going further, the message also demanded the explanation from Congress on why party functionaries were retaining Poojary for so long despite his questionable actions that destroyed the party at polls. "Poojary's statement against Siddaramaiah during the previous Assembly election, lead to the downfall of Congress in Dakshina Kannada... once involved in the destruction of the image of the party, how can one take claim for its growth?” he questioned.

While former Mangaluru South MLA, J R Lobo had filed a police complaint against the voice-message and had sought a detailed probe, even Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had expressed condemnation.

Meanwhile, taking on the 'voice message' (authenticity of the voice, could not be verified till the publication of this report) route again, the suspect allegedly floated another message, while apologising for his remark against Poojary, he reiterated that the former Union Minister should not have made remark favouring the construction of Ram Temple. "I have not said anywhere, I will kill Poojary. I have only said that anyone who violates Constitution, including Poojary must either be killed in an encounter or deported out of the country... Being a Congress leader how he can make such statements when the matter is in the court," the voice said.

Bengaluru, Jan 24: After Honnalli legislator MP Renukacharya, Ballari City MLA Somashekara Reddy and deputy chief minister Govind Karjol, it appeared the turn of revenue minister R Ashoka to show the BJP in poor light with controversial and provocative comments against a minority community. This, despite a gag order issued by state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Responding to questions on the Mangaluru International Airport bomb scare incident and how the main accused would have been treated had he been a Muslim, Ashoka on Thursday said "all anti-nationals must be shot dead". Meanwhile, Renukacharya, also a political secretary to chief minister BS Yediyurappa, continued his tirade against Muslims, insisting the government will not extend any "special package" to the community.

Soon after garlanding the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on the birth anniversary of the freedom fighter, at Vidhana Soudha on Thursday, Ashoka said: "All those who are singing the tune of Pakistan and indulging in anti-national activities, be they Hindu, Christian or Muslim, must be shot dead."

Asked to respond to former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s accusation that the entire Mangaluru bomb incident was stage-managed by the BJP government to divert attention, Ashoka said the JD(S) functionary "must measure his words" and not speak "like a film director who can project the police as villainous all the time".

"Kumaraswamy is a former CM. When in power, police were his closest friends, but now that he is not in government, the same police are villains," Ashoka said.

The minister reiterated the government’s stand — first floated by home minister Basavaraj Bommai —

that Aditya Rao, the main accused in the Mangaluru bomb incident, is "mentally unstable" and needs to be medically examined.

Renukacharya, meanwhile, justified comments made on Wednesday that the government will not offer Muslims "a special package".

"When they [Muslims] need development funds, they come to us and seek special packages. Once they get funds, they then vote for Congress or JD(S) in elections," Renukacharya said on Thursday. "We do not need people with such double standards. I will apply pressure on all ministers in the cabinet and even the chief minister to ensure they do not allocate any special package for the community."

Mumbai, May 30: Former Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim has deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts after being heavily trolled for quoting from the Quran while talking about locust attacks.

"So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood: Signs openly self explained: but they were steeped in arrogance -- a people given to sin. --Qur'an 7:133," Zaira had tweeted.

Soon, she started receiving hateful comments from netizens who interpreted her post as a justification of the locust attacks. They felt that Zaira was suggesting that the incident is God's way of expressing wrath.

Shortly after being deluged with such comments, Zaira Wasim deleted her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

However, a section of netizens continue to attack Zaira on her Facebook page, where she put up the same post.

Commenting on the post, a user wrote: "Lady you must have taken into account of those people of JK, Kerala and elsewhere who are also suffering from the virus. Moreover the crops which are damaged by locust had no name as to who will consume them. In this hours of crisis please post something which is positive and reflects your education."

Another user shared: "So according to you, with all due respect every year on the same time period, Allah send locust to India to destroy the crops of poor farmers who are not even involve in the industrial rise, who don't use vehicle to destroy the nature, and Allah send locust only to harm the poor farmers and not the rich one who actually destroy nature."

"So those farmers who lost there fields of crops and will probably go into debt and may also commit suicide, those farmers who feed the nation, who feed you and every one, are sinners?" asked yet another user.

However, there were a few on social media who felt Zaira had done nothing wrong.

"Quoting Quranic Verse is not a crime... Why is every Indian abusing @ZairaWasimmm. She didn't mention any particular nation or religion. I request everyone please stand with #ZairaWasim. She needs our support. #ISupportZairaWasim," goes a tweet.
