Mangaluru: Devika emerges winner of Big Golden Voice Junior

Mangaluru, Jun 4: Dakshina Kannada's popular FM station 92.7 BIGFM conducted BIG Golden voice junior for the kids below 16 years in Mangaluru at Advaith Hyundai showroom, Kuntikana. Prelims were conducted on May 27. More than 35 kids participated and in that top 12 have selected. The top 12 where Shriya Bhandary, Tanush Raj, Nagayya, Sanath, Devika Prashanth, Ananya ,Kiran Chinmayi ,Jovita , Rakshitha Shetty, Anuskha, Khsitij, Rovina selected for Finals.

Final's of BIG Golden voice conducted on June 3. Popular singer and actress Esther Noronha, Classical and orchestra singer Jostna and trained musician Melroy were the judges. Devika emerged as the winner of BIG Golden voice junior.

Speaking on the occasion Actress Esther Noronha said: “I am happy to be part of the event. It's my pleasure to see the kids performing. I wish all the best for the participants and thank you Mangaluru for supporting my movies”

Rajesh Ullal from Advaith Hyundai said “BIG fm and Advaith Hyundai has done lot of events together. We are committed to do such events for the society. It is more refreshing to see kids singing and definitely it's a great initiative'

Rj Errol compered the programme. Joel Rebello welcomed the guests. Rj Roopesh, Arun Viswanath,Kiran Naayar, Alston from Big FM & Melwyn,Sudhakar and others from Advaith Hyundai were present on the occasion.

Kolkata, Feb 2: A protester at Park Circus, known as Shaheen Bagh of Kolkata, died last night after she fell ill during her agitation against CAA, NRC and NPR.

The woman has been identified as Sameeda Khatun (57) who was a resident of Entally area of the city. According to protesters, Khatun who was asthmatic patient died after suffering a cardiac arrest. She is survived by husband and eight children.

Around 250 women from Kolkata have been holding a peaceful sit-in at Park Circus Maidan since January 7 to protest against CAA, NRC and NPR and demanding the withdrawal of the new citizenship law.

Research Scholar at Rabindra Bharati University, Nousheen Baba Khan who has been spearheading the Park Circus protest since the beginning, told the newspaper, “Sameeda Khatun was a regular face at the protest and she was not well as she had asthma.

Last evening she came to me complaining that she is having trouble in breathing. We immediately took her to Chittaranjan Hospital where doctors said she had suffered a cardiac arrest. We later took her to Islamia Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead,” said Khan.

Bengaluru, Jun 18: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has deployed a COVID-19 infection control "surveillance team" to look after travellers coming from other states.

Those coming to Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural Districts must undergo a 14-day home quarantine.

The Bengaluru Mayor today inaugurated surveillance team at Dr Raj Kumar Glass House.

Deputy Mayor Ramamohan Raju, Health Standing Committee Chairman Manjunath Raju G, Special Commissioners D Randeep, Manjunath, Superintendent of Police Mr Murugan and other officials were also present in the event.

There are 7,944 coronavirus cases in Karnataka including 2,843 active cases and 4,983discharged. 114 patients have succumbed to COVID-19 in the state. 844 positive cases were reported in Bengaluru Urban and 39 in Bengaluru Rural.

Bengaluru, May 4: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said that the free bus service for migrant workers has been extended by two days in the state.
 
The service was supposed to end on Tuesday, but it has now been extended till Thursday.
 
The Chief Minister has appealed to workers and other people that they can return to their hometowns without having to gather in large numbers at bus stops.
 
He said, "951 KSRTC buses on Sunday were provided in the state for the travel of migrants. About 1,500 passengers have already gone in 50 busses."
 
On Saturday, an estimated 16,500 passengers in 550 buses left for their homes.
 
On Monday two trains will leave for Rajasthan and Bihar, the Chief Minister said.
 
He said in a press release that everyone will be provided with free meals and water before the journey.
