Mangaluru: Four notorious criminals arrested in separate cases

Mangaluru, Jul 23: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Mangaluru City Police arrested Keshav Sanil (47), a rowdy-sheeter for being in illegal possession of 1.8 kg of cannabis.
 
The police said that following a tip-off, the CCB team stopped near the Talapady Toll Gate on Saturday a car coming from Kerala that was driven by Sanil, a resident of Katipalla. The police recovered 1.8 kg cannabis from the car.
 
The police said that Sanil was an accused in 12 criminal cases, including a case of murder registered in Surathkal police station. He was an accused in 15 cases in Udupi district.
 
In a separate operation, the CCB police arrested Gauraw Kotian, 25, of Bondel who was wanted in a case of alleged illegal sale of cannabis registered in Kankanady police station.
 
Meanwhile, the Ullal police arrested Mohammed Mustafa (21) of Mukkucherry, wanted in a case of attempt to murder. Mustafa is an accused in four criminal cases.
 
The Ullal police also arrested Mohammed Haneef (30) of Munnur, who was allegedly involved in 24 criminal cases, including murder and dacoity.

Bengaluru, Feb 18: Passengers of the Ahmedabad bound GoAir flight had a providential escape when the engine of the aircraft while on the roll of take-off hit by a foreign object at the Kempe Gowda Bengaluru International Airport on Tuesday.

'The right engine of GoAir flight G8 802 from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru is suspected to have suffered from foreign object damage (FOD) while on take-off roll,' an official statement said.

Bengaluru, Jul 4: Karnataka Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao said on Saturday that he and his family would get tested for COVID-19 after one of his security persons tested positive for the infection.

Rao's family will also be in-home quarantine for the stipulated time.

"One of my police security person has tested positive for COVID yesterday. My family members and I are getting tested now and will be in-home quarantine for the stipulated time period. None of us are showing any symptoms," he said.

The total number of cases in Karnataka stands at 19,710. Out of them, 8,805 have recovered and 293 patients have lost their lives, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Across the country, the total number of cases stands at 6,48,315. As many as 3,94,227 patients have recovered so far and 18,655 have lost their lives due to the virus.

Gadag, Mar 28: At a time when the adminsitration is insisting on social diatancing due to COVID-19 outbreak, scores of people gathered in large numbers at an Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market in Gadag district to buy essential commodities.

Both men and women could be seen standing in large groups near the vendors to buy fruits and vegetables. Some of the customers were also heard bargaining with the sellers in the morning today.

A couple of days back, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised that social distancing is the only way to counter the spread of COVID-19, saying the virus does not discriminate and it can infect anyone.

Interacting with the people of Varanasi through video conferencing, the Prime Minister had stated that some people, despite being empowered with knowledge, are not pay heed to warning which is unfortunate.

He said the 'Mahabharata' war was won in 18 days and the war against coronavirus will take 21 days and the aim is to win it.

According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 873 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in India.
