Mangaluru gets more rain than last year so far, but less than average

Mangaluru, Jun 27: Even though Mangaluru taluk recorded less than average rain fall this year, it has already breached the last year's monsoon rainfall figures.

However, the meteorological department's prediction of above normal' monsoon has not yet reflected in Mangaluru and other parts of the coastal district.

Last year by June 27 Mangaluru taluk received 770 mm of rain, this year it has been 1032.3 mm so far. The average rainfall for the period is 1248 mm.

The other four districts of Dakshina Kannada received rain less than last year. As a result the overall rainfall in the district so far this year is also less compared to last year.

Till today the district received 843 mm rain this year, last year it was 100.6 mm. The normal rainfall figures for the district during this period are 1,176.2 mm.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: The test report of the man from Uppoor in Udupi district, who committed suicide fearing he had contracted coronavirus infection, has returned negative for the virus.

Health department officials in Udupi said the post- mortem test report had shown that he did not have the virus infection and asked the people in the area not to panic.

Gopalakrishna Madivala (56), had hanged himself on Wednesday suspecting he had the disease, leaving a death note to family members asking them to stay safe.

Bengaluru, May 12: Karnataka sees the highest single day spike since the start of the pandemic in the state, higher than Sunday's spike in cases. 63 new cases have been reported in last 24 hours. 

With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases rises to 925, said the state health department's bulletin on Tuesday.

While 42 new positive cases reported from May 11, 5 pm to May 12, noon, another 21 fresh 21 cases reported by 5 pm on May 12.

To date, 921 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes 31 deaths and 426 discharged," the bulletin read further.

Morning Bulletin

New cases in Bengaluru Urban 3,  Yadgir 2, Bagalkote 15, Dakshina Kannada 2, Dharwad 9, Bidar 2, Hassan 5, Ballari, Mandya, Chikkaballapura, Kalaburagi (one each).  

Evening Bulletin

Cases in Gadag (3), Kolar (5), Bengaluru Urban (1) and Davangere (11) cases. 

Cases reported on 12 May: 63

Total cases in state: 925

Bengaluru, Mar 31: Ten persons who were under home quarantine in Bengaluru and had escaped to their native places, were arrested on Monday.
A case has been registered against them at Gurmitkal Police Station, said BH Anil Kumar, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) Commissioner.

Seven new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Karnataka between Saturday 5 pm and Sunday 2 pm.

The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 83, out of which five have been cured and three have lost their lives, according to the Karnataka Health Department.
