Mangaluru, Dec 22: Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy today visited the aggrieved family members of the two victims of police firing and expressed condolences.
49-year-old Abdul Jaleel, a resident of Kanduka in Bundar area and 23-year-old Mohammad Nausheen, a resident of Kudroli were ruthlessly gunned down by the Mangaluru police on December 19 while a few youths were protesting against Citizenship Amendment Bill. Both the victims were not part of protests.
Accompanied by JD(S) leader B M Faroo and others, the former CM first visited the family members of martyr Nausheen. After patiently hearing the woes of family members, he handed them over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh.
Later Mr Kumaraswamy visited the family members of martyr Abdul Jaleel and handed them over a same amount cheque.
The former CM assured that he would exert pressure on the government to take appropriate action against the killer cops and give justice to the victims and their family.
