Media Release
July 14, 2018

Mangaluru, July 14: Hikmah International Academy, a Montessori School in Mangaluru celebrated the annual Van Mahotsav recently at their school premises in Vas Lane.

K. Bhasker Moily, Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation, graced the occasion as chief guest. A K Niyaz, Managing Director, A K Group of Industries was guest of honor.

The chairman of the Hikmah Educational Trust Mohammed Nissar, the Trustees, Chief Admin Officer, Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff and more than 50 kids from MONT-1, MONT-2 & MONT-3 participated in planting many neem saplings at the adjacent area near to the school premises.

The event slogan was ‘Think Green and Live Green’ to motivate the kids to know how important trees and plants are for our survival and well being.

The Mayor in his inaugural address said that forests play a vital role for our nation’s development. Destruction of forests ruins the ecological balance of the globe and also weakens the efforts of pollution control. The need for plantation has become even greater these days because of the growing pollution in the environment.

Mr Mohammed Nissar said that all the disadvantages of destruction of trees and forests can be balanced only with plantation of trees which maintains bio diversity, conservation of water and climate control.

He said that as we take a lot of care in protecting the plants, it teaches us how parents and teachers have to nurture our kids in their early stages with knowledge and discipline helping them to groom as respectable citizens of our great nation.

He announced that the institution will be coming up with an Eco-Friendly Campus in 3.5 acres of land in Mangaluru fully equipped with all the facilities which are required for a Modern School. Stone laying ceremony will take place within months.

Acting Principal Asma Syed was present. Event Coordinator Lubaina concluded the program with the vote of thanks.

New Delhi, Mar 2: The bloodthirsty arsonists allegedly hired by pro-CAA politicians in the capital of India to target Muslims, did not spare even the house of a Muslim leader of BJP.

Akhtar Raza, the BJP’s minority cell vice-president for the Delhi Northeast district, is now not in a position to share his pain with anyone.

Even the police hadn’t come to his rescue, when the mob raising “Jai Sri Ram” slogans burnt down his house at Bhagirathi Vihar Nalla Road in northeast Delhi last week.

“They were chanting slogans. Around 7pm, they started throwing stones at us. I called for police help. But the police asked me to leave. We managed to flee before they burnt my house and destroyed everything,” Raza, who returned today to witness the destruction, told media persons.

“Those who attacked us were not locals. They were outsiders. They managed to identify and burn down all the 19 houses belonging to Muslims in this lane,” Raza said.

Apart from all the belongings in the house of Raza, the arsonists also have burnt down six vehicles belonging to his family.

Raza is sad that no one from BJP contacted him after the violence even though he has been serving the party and promoting its ideology for past five years. “No party leader contacted me. There was no phone call. There was no relief or special treatment or anything,” Raza said.

Interestingly, Raza is still indentifies himself as a BJP leader. “I belonged to BJP. I may continue in the party,” he said.

The locality remained tense on Sunday too. On Monday, several groups distributed relief materials among people who had queued up to collect them. In front of Raza’s house is a lane from which several bodies of innocent Muslims have been recovered.

Bengaluru, Feb 26: The police remand of student activist Amulya Leona Noronha, who was produced before a Magistrate, after a no-show at the Metropolitan Magistrate Court, was extended by 10 more days.

The Fifth Additional Metropolitan Magistrate at the Magistrate's home on Tuesday night had remanded her to police custody for 10 days, less than the 14 days asked for by the Special Investigative Team, considering that she has already spent over four days in judicial custody.

Amulya Noronha, a student of NMKRV College for Women, had raised pro-Pakistan slogans by shouting ''Pakistan Zindabad'' at an anti-CAA protest in Bangalore on 20th February following which the city police filed a case of sedition against her.
