Mangaluru: II PU science student found hanging in Thokkottu

Mangaluru, Aug 22: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Thokkottu in Mangaluru taluk on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Shifan, who was a II PU science student at St Sebastian Pre University College, Permannur near Thokkottu.

His family members told police that he was found hanging from a ceiling fan on Monday afternoon. The reason for the suicide is yet to be known.

Ullal police have registered a case and investigations are on.

Udupi, Aug 6: Three people including police personnel entered a well and rescued an elderly woman who had accidentally fallen into Udupi on Thursday.

A police sub-inspector and two others got down into a well and rescued the elderly woman, who accidentally fell into well at near her home at Kukkikatte.

The locals immediately alerted to police and fire and rescue personal.

Udupi town police sub-inspector Sadashiva Govroji, fire and rescue staff Vinayaka and a local Auto-driver Rajesh Nayak got into the well and brought the woman out safely.

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Police on Wednesday conducted surprise raids at nearly 120 shops in Bengaluru following complaints of black marketing and sale of foodgrains above the MRP rate.

Sandip Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Bengaluru in a tweet said that action has been initiated against these shopkeepers.

Though the government has maintained the supply chain of essential items, few shopkeepers have used the lockdown opportunity to charge higher prices for essential items.

Mangaluru, July 13: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday said that all COVID-19 patients in the district will be treated for free in the hospitals of all medical colleges in the district.

Speaking to newsmen after visiting the COVID-19 treatment facility at KMC Hospital here, Poojary stated that all COVID-19 patients including BPL families, APL families, migrant workers and those without a ration card, will be treated free of charge in the district’s medical colleges. Patients can show their Aadhaar card at the hospital and get free treatment.

Provision of free treatment for COVID-19 patients at Wenlock hospital will be continued. In Dakshina Kannada district, the number of people recovering from the virus and being discharged hospitals is high. There is no need for the people of the district to panic. The government is committed to the health of the people, Poojary said.
