Mangaluru: II PU science student found hanging in Thokkottu

Mangaluru, Aug 22: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Thokkottu in Mangaluru taluk on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Shifan, who was a II PU science student at St Sebastian Pre University College, Permannur near Thokkottu.

His family members told police that he was found hanging from a ceiling fan on Monday afternoon. The reason for the suicide is yet to be known.

Ullal police have registered a case and investigations are on.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Agricultural produce vendors have decided to hold an indefinite strike from Monday here in city's Central Market.
 
This move comes in response to district administration’s order asking them to shift to the APMC yard at Baikampady and not heeding to their appeal to allow them to operate from the Market and other areas in the city.
 
The district administration has decided to shift the vendors in order to prevent crowding in the market and maintain social distancing norms.

Mangaluru, Jul 5: A veteran politician and former union minister has repeatedly tested positive for COVID-19 in the Dakshina Kannada.

The former minister, who resides in Bantwal taluk, is said to be asymptomatic.

His wife and children have also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, one of the kin of the former minister said that he is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. "He is asymptomatic and doing well," he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: District administration in Kalaburagi, where the first death in India due to COVID-19 was reported, has identified over 25 people, who come close to the deceased and quarantined for observation, Minister for Health B Sreeramulu said on Friday.

In reply to a debate on the issue during Zero Hour of the Legislative Assembly, the Health Minister said that two members of the victim’s family and 23 others are suspected of COVID-19.

Mr. Sreeramulu said all the schools of the district have been as a preventive measure to contain the deadly virus.
