Mangaluru, Jan 18: A city resident was cheated of Rs 59,995 from his bank account by a caller who introduced himself as an official from the bank.
The victim, Isac Frank, in his complaint to the police, stated that he realized that he was cheated only after seeing message on his mobile phone from his bank.
Frank said he had received a call from a person identifying himself as an executive of State Bank of India.
“The caller told me that he is checking if I had linked my Aadhaar number to his bank account. The caller also requested for my ATM card number and other details, which I provided without realising that the caller was a scamster,” he said.
The bank has urged its customers not to give any kind of details about their accounts to any strange caller as no official from the bank will call the customer.
