Mangaluru: Newlywed bodybuilder dies of heart attack during contest

Mangaluru, Nov 6: A 34-year-old amateur bodybuilder collapsed and died following a heart attack when he had taken part in a bodybuilding competition in the city. 

The deceased is Vinayaraj, a resident of Kodimoole in Farangiper near Mangaluru. He had recently got married, sources said. 

The district level bodybuilding contest was organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Amateur Body Builders Federation at Don Bosco Hall in the city. 

It is learnt that Vinayaraj suffered a massive heart attack when he was preparing for the second round after successfully completing the first round.

He collapsed on the ground all of a sudden. He was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Udupi, Mar 25: A 34-year-old man who returned from Dubai tested positive for novel coronavirus in Udupi district. This is the first case in the district. 

He returned from Dubai on March 18 and got admitted to a government hospital in Udupi on March 23 for fever. The swab samples were sent to Shivamogga laboratory for testing.

The report which arrived on Wednesday confirmed that he was positive for COVID-19, said DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda.

Bengaluru,  Aug 4: Karnataka has seen a substantial increase in COVID-19 recovery rate, which was 5.67 per cent in the last week, state Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said.

"Every day there is an increase in recovery rate which is higher by 9.17 per cent in Bengaluru city. The overall recovery rate of the state by Sunday evening was 42.81 per cent and it is 35.14 per cent in Bengaluru," the Minister wrote in a tweet.

Minister Sudhakar also directed officials to resolve the issue raised by a woman who had written to him about her struggle to take possession of the body of her father in St. Johns hospital, Madivala.

The hospital she claimed was charging money to hand over the body.

"It is inhuman on part of the hospital to refuse handover of the body. I came to know about this incident in the media and responded immediately to help out the woman," Dr. Sudhakar wrote in his tweet.

Karnataka has so far reported 74,598 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru, Jul 2: A youth who was on job hunt committed suicide by hanging from the roof of his house in Maroli on Wednesday.

32-year-old Advaita Shetty taken pilot training and looking for a job, According to sources, he had come back to his native place, Maroli, three days ago.

The exact reason behind this extreme step is not known yet.

Kankanady town police have registered a case in this regard.
