Mangaluru: P B Abdul Hameed is new president of KCCI

Mangaluru, Sep 27: City-based entrepreneur P B Abdul Hameed was unanimously elected president of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru, for 2018-19 at the 78th annual general meeting held on Thursday. He is taking over the responsibility from Vathika Pai.

The other newly elected office bearers are: Isaac Vas (Vice-President), M Ganesh Kamath (Hon. Treasurer), Shashidhar Pai Maroor and Prashanth C G (Hon. Secretaries).

The directors are: Nitte Yathiraj Shetty, B A Nazeer, Nissar Fakeer Mohammed, Ananthesh V Prabhu, Ananth G Pai, Amith Ramachandra, Praveen Kumar Bangera, K Dinesh Rao, Aditya Padmanabha Pai, Palli Sadananda Shetty, Divakar Pai Kochikar and Abdur Rahman Musba.

Bengaluru, Mar 12: Days after a video of an elephant being shot in Bandipur National Park went viral on social media, officials said that they have removed a staffer and initiated action against an employee of the Karnataka Forest Department in the matter.

According to officials, the incident took place on March 7.

"We have removed Rahim, temporary staffer, and initiated action against Umesh, a permanent employee of the Karnataka Forest Department, after an internal enquiry," Bandipur field director T Balchandra said.

While Rahim is said to have shot the charging elephant, Umesh reportedly made the video and shared it on social media.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has appealed to the Additional Chief Secretary to Karnataka government Jawaid Akhtar to exclude Dakshina Kannada district from hotspot/ red zone area pertaining to coronavirus, saying that the district has not reported any new case since last five days.

KCCI president Isaac Vas said DK district has not reported any new case of COVID-19 in the last five days. Of the 12 cases reported in the district, six are from Kasargod and one from Bhatkal.

None of the patients suffering from coronavirus are in ICU or put on ventilator, he said in a statement.

Belagavi, Apr 12: Karnataka police have filed cases against seven people for hiding their visit to Delhi for attending a religious congregation at Nizamuddin Mosque, last month, police said on Sunday.

The Commissioner office here, in a statement said that Hirebagewadi police filed cases against seven persons including one participant and his family members and Tablighi leader for hiding information regarding participation in the religious meeting 'Tablighi Jamaat ' at Nizamuddin in New Delhi in March.

A youth from the Hirebagewadi village had visited New Delhi and hidden information about his visit and misguiding the Task Force officials when they visited his house. COVID-19 Task Force and Model officials informed the matter to Hirebagewadi police.
