Mangaluru teen Israr Pasha bags 2 gold medals in Commonwealth Powerlifting

Mangaluru, Sept 23: Israr Pasha, a college student from this coastal city, has clinched two gold and one silver medals at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship recently held in South Africa.

The-18-year old boy secured gold in classic benchpress and equipped powerlifting, and won silver at the classic powerlifting sport.

In a short span of three years, the international champion has reached great heights, from winning various medals at district, state and national level championships held from 2014. The defining moment prior to the Commonwealth Games was his win at the 2016 South Indian National Sub-Junior competition at Nagpur, where he clinched gold amidst tough competition.

Pasha reveals that hard work, passion, and practice are the three secrets to his success. He lauds his mother Khathija as his primary motivator, right from creating the perfect environment at home to taking care of his every need. His father Abdulla, his brother, his friends, coaches Satish Kumar and Pracheth K have been equally encouraging.

Friends and wellwishers at the Veeranjaneya Gym and the Balanjaneya Gym at Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru are ecstatic about his win. “I had to put in four hours of practice every single day”, he says. ”My coaches motivated me to the maximum”.

His time in South Africa was exciting, after weeks of coaching and camps conducted by the Indian Government. “The winning moment for me was when I lifted 205kg”, he reckons. “I started out four years ago lifting a mere 50kg. Today I can lift up to 500kg”, he laughs. “My parents are super-parents. They have been extremely motivating throughout. I’ve started training my brother in this field as well”, he beams.

The most enriching part about the whole experience is the respect that he gets in society now. “From being the Best Sportsman of the Year at Aloysius PU College three years ago, I have come to this level. The respect I get from society is the most fulfilling part”, he smiles.

Pasha believes that women too have great scope in this sport. He asserts that women can lift better than men, and that all they need is a good coach. His dream is to get into airport management, and open a gym one day.

Asked to describe his journey in a single word, Pasha has a great answer: “Awesome!” Pasha is a student of I BBM of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru and a resident of Kulshekar area in the city.

Hassan, Jul 16: In fresh incident of cast killing, a Dalit youth in Alur taluk of Hassan district was shot dead yesterday by the relatives of the girl with whom he was in love. 

The deceased identified as Madhu, a 30-year-old resident of Soppinahalli village. He had taken a 25-year-old girl with him and was planning to marry her after taking her family into confidence.  

The relatives of the girl, who belong to upper caste, claimed that Madhu had kidnapped the daughter of one Ramesh of the same village. The girl's uncle Rupesh had waylaid Madhu when he was on the way to the field and shot at him. 

The body of the deceased as been shifted to a mortuary. The accused Rupesh has gone absconding. Sources said that the family of Ramesh has strongly opposed the inter-caste marriage.

Mysuru, May 6: A seven-months pregnant woman fled Covid-19 hotspot Mumbai along with her family, and made it to her village 1000 km away in KR Pet taluka in Mandya district of Karnataka, flashing her mother's ID card at each checkpost. After reaching her destination, she got herself tested for Covid-19.

She tested positive for the virus on Monday in Mandya.

The 20-year-old woman (assigned the number P637) had been living with her husband and in-laws at Santa Cruz East, Agripada in Mumbai for the past three years. To get out of the containment zone, they started out from Mumbai at 7.30 pm on April 23 -- she, her husband, brother-in-law, co-sister and their children, and a 19-year-old girl. She made it past checkposts at Belagavi, Hubballi, Davanagere, Kadur, Arasikere, Channarayapatna and Shravanabelagola and reached her village Jaaginakere at 3 pm on April 24.

She stayed at her home in the village from 24 April to April 29. With the Mandya district administration testing people on a campaign mode in the entire district, she and her family got themselves tested on May 1.

Her test returned positive on May 4, according to deputy commissioner M V Venkatesh.

Along with her, the 19-year-old girl (P638) who travelled with the family also tested positive. The girl is in the sixth semester of her BE Electronics course at an engineering college in Mumbai.

This is not the first case of a corona fugitive from Mumbai. Earlier, a 50-year-old man who ran a hotel in Mumbai travelled in a vehicle carrying dates and reached Channarayapatna in Hassan district.

In fact there have been three such incidents, including that of seven people coming to Mandya from Mumbai transporting a dead man's body for cremation in his native village of B Kodagalli in Pandavapura taluk.

Mandya deputy commissioner Dr Venkatesh has appealed to natives of Mandya who are stuck in Mumbai to stay there till the Covid situation comes to control.

So far 28 people in Mandya diatrict have tested positive for Covid 19. Seven people have been discharged. Currently there are 21 active cases being treated at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences.

Bengaluru, Apr 21: Hardline BJP leader and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who had deleted some of his old sexist tweets while contesting for Lok Sabha polls, yesterday deleted deleted his ugly remarks against Arab woman after it went viral and triggered sharp response from  many quarters, including from the Arab world.

In 2015, before Surya became an MP, he had said in a tweet, "95% of Arab women have never had an orgasm in the last few hundred years! Every mother has produced kids as an act of sex and not love. @Tarek Fatah."

The old tweet was picked up some influential members in the Arab community. Many intellectuals and various members of the royal families too have over the past few days condemned the attacks on Muslims in India and called out instances on Islamophobia. They have been highlighting derogatory comments about the Arab community purportedly made by supporters of the ruling BJP. It was then that a few found that even present day recognised leaders like Tejasvi had made similar comments in the past.

As the outrage grew, Tejasvi deleted the old tweet. A lot of BJP supporters on Twitter then started pointing out that Tejasvi Surya had merely quoted Canadian journalist Tareh Fatah, known for his anti-Islam comments. But by then someone had archived the tweet and Tejasvi's response to it in 2015.

In a thread to the same tweet, responding to criticism, Surya had said that these were not his opinion but attributed to Tarek Fatah. He also said that he agrees with Fateh's position that 'Islamofascism was a threat to all civilsations'.

Surya could not be reached for a comment.

However, a source close to Surya, said, "This is a 2015 tweet where Tejasvi Surya was quoting Tarek Fatah from an interview. It is being wrongly attributed to him with malicious intent. The main issue being addressed in the interview was about the barbaric and inhuman practice of genital mutilation of women. If there's any person to comment on it, it has to be Tarek Fatah."

Tejasvi Surya had landed in a similar controversy soon after his nomination as a candidate just ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Surya could not be reached for a comment.

However, a source close to Surya, said, "This is a 2015 tweet where Tejasvi Surya was quoting Tarek Fatah from an interview. It is being wrongly attributed to him with malicious intent. The Congress also stepped in to criticise Surya and the BJP, national spokesperson Sanjay Jha said in a tweet, “The BJP gives tickets to Pragya Singh Thakur and #TejasviSurya etc because it helps popularise their hardline bigoted political profile. But the chickens usually come home to roost. Today, India stands embarrassed, humiliated.”

This fellow from the bottom to now educted and trained in rss organization  and in their school. And he was nomnated by the terror rss HQ only to ignite  terror and communal activity and  not form any social work or record. He was elected by WVM poeer and not by peoples choice. One or th other day EVM  secracy will be unlocked  thenall these chaddi Dhaari will be side lined and vanished by the peace loving  PATRIOT Indians.

 

 Now the present ruling party's policy and steps all are 100% jews guideline all behind the screen.

 

But truth  always  leads and Win.  

So blind bhaks must awake and divert  their mind toward TRUTH to lead a peace life in the human society.

Thejaswi or his god fathers will never  support - their group adn policy is entirely diffenetn and they never support or mingle with fellow Hindus.  All must remeber and  think about their beloved family and dependents i/o of rss chaddi.

still now arab belived Hindus are good people, now one by one coming to know their evil mindset which is inside their heart...most of the hindus are nowdays communual, so all muslim must be carefull.

 

one of my hindu friend who is with me from childhood 20 years recently supported CAA and NRC and we divide, till then i never thought that he was like this, i supported him finiancially in all help...

 

INDIA is belog to muslim first then to hindus, we are the front runner of indian independence,

 

so all muslim community first support his community either in job, money, help etc...for them they have their BJP & RSS.

 

Now in saudi & UAE they annonced that any Hindutva militen who is spreading against muslim & islam sitiing in GCC must be reoported without any delay.
