Mangaluru, Aug 4: Three youths have been arrested by the crime branch of Mangaluru city police the charge of selling ganja to students. The cops also seized 1.2 kg of the contraband, a two-wheeler and three mobile phones valued at Rs. 68,500 from the accused.

The accused are: Loy Vegas, 24, resident of Jasmin Villa, Konchadi-Derebail, Almed Karkada, 24, Prashanth Nilaya, near Falnir Tower Apartment, and Pradeep Prabhu, 27, Bhuvanendra Apartment, Kadri Kambala, all in Mangaluru.
A release said that the police got specific information that the accused had been selling the substance to college students and general public near Bharat Beedi complex on Kadri Kambala Road on Thursday.
After their arrest, the accused revealed that they used to procure ganja from Shikaripura area in Shivamogga district. Loy Vegas has nine cases of two-wheeler theft, assault, kidnap and others registered against him in Kavoor, Urva, Barke, Mangaluru North and Mangaluru Rural police stations.
The accused and the seized material have been handed over to jurisdictional Mangaluru North Police Station for further investigation. Inspector Sunil Y. Naik and team conducted the operation.
