The much anticipated and talked about project; which is praised for its beautiful elevation; highlighted as the 'Pride of Mangaluru', Westline Signature at Nanthoor is the proposed tallest building in South India. The ultra premium residential building designed with the involvement of many renowned International and National consultants has created history in construction industry with its newly laid mega foundation.

The unique and massive foundation was constructed in short span of as little as one month. Mr. Nasir Mohideen, managing Director of Westline Builders has said “Our thirst for implementation of innovative technologies in the construction field is very well complemented by our partners in this MFAR as the construction company, Architect Guulshan Roy as Principal Architect, Site Concepts Singapore as Master Plan Architects, Ralys as MEP, Fire and HVAC consultants and Wintegro Engineering LLP as the project management consultancy are working in unison on this record-breaking building.

Landmark set with foundation

The single foundation laid in rapid pace is known as 'Raft Foundation' in the construction industry. This massive foundation is the fastest executed foundation for such a magnanimous structure. It has made it’s place in the India’s construction history. As much as 505 tonnes of steel, along with nearly 2600 cubic metre of M40 grade concrete which amounts to approximately 24000 bags of cement is consumed in for the foundation.. The quality of the structure has been met with the usage of best know primary steel JSW Fe500D. For a continuous pour, the foundation was divided into three blocks with high rib sheets.

This type of expensive construction method is a very rare attempt in the present construction industry. The rib sheets which are being used for the first time ever in Mangaluru, has been brought down from Delhi. Each wall has a pedestal of 600mm and grade slab with the thickness of 200mm. It took six days to complete the entire foundation with a manpower force of over 100 labourers on day and night shift.

The fabrication work is being done at two fabrication sites. The entire work was supervised by two site engineers, six site supervisors, two quality engineers, two safety engineers, and four mechanical supervisors. A structural engineer from Sanghvi Associates monitored the entire work as a full time monitor.

Anti-termite treatment has been done at the bottom and the surroundings of the foundation. Chemicals have been injected into the soil to prevent the attack of termites which is a common problem in and around our district.

Westline Signature is the first tower proposed with healthy alternative of water cooled chiller central air-conditioning system in the city. The tower is also pre-registered for Platinum Pre-Certification from Indian Green Building Council ensuring a hale and hearty lifestyle. Bengaluru, Mar 5: Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday admitted in the legislative assembly that corruption was deep-rooted in government offices and held transfer racket as the root cause of the graft menace.

“Unless we root it out from the system, we can never uphold the spirit of the Constitution and ensure equitable justice to people. If legislators lend support (to this cause), then we can weed out this menace,” Yediyurappa said during a special discussion on the Constitution.

Successive governments have been accused by opposition parties of running a transfer racket, but there’s very little done to institute a probe or order a crackdown following the allegations.

The chief minister’s candid admission came after senior Congress MLA HK Patil, quoting a report from Amnesty International, said 63% of people in Karnataka give bribe to get their work done in government offices. The CM said he agreed with the report in toto.

The covid-19 lockdown has thrown wedding plans in disarray in coastal Karnataka like all other activities involving a crowd of people. While many people chose to postpone the scheduled and about to be scheduled weddings, some are going ahead with scheduled plans and holding weddings with no more than 50 guests as per the guidelines issued by the government of Karnataka.

The government may relax the norms and allow participation of more guests in the future. However, holding wedding ceremonies will be a new challenge when people are returning to a ‘new normalcy.’ Compared to the traditional wedding ceremonies of the region, marriages in the time of Covid-19 are expected to be smaller as the organizers have to adhere to the safety protocol and safe distancing norms. Given this situation, to limit risks and ensure safety, families now will have to consider wedding planners to help them celebrate their weddings.

“The postponed weddings will take place in the coming days as the lockdown is being relaxed in a phased manner. However, it won’t be like our traditional weddings. There won’t be 3000 guests.  Government directives will be have followed. We expect change in trend from big fat weddings to a small, close family, picture perfect weddings,” says Sartaj Beary, Managing Partner, Zawaj Weddings and Events.

“Our curetted packages will take care of wedding invitations, outdoor venue, premium catering, bridal make up, mehendi function, photography, videography, décor, thermal scanning systems, hand sanitizers and N 95 masks etc. We hope with our experiences we can offer stress free celebration to the families while we plan everything from scratch as per client requirement,” he assures.

“Ultimately, our society has to adopt an innovative way of marriage. At this point, we can say that any wedding in 2020 will look different as the novel coronavirus has disrupted the weddings everywhere. We know it is a big milestone for families and we at Zawaj are here to assure families that we can help a stress free wedding,” he adds.

New Normal Era Weddings

In the ‘new normal era’, weddings across the world will be totally different from what we used to see before the pandemic. People need to be cautious while attending mass gathering and it is important. Gone are the days of closed AC venues. Outdoor weddings will be the future, where seating are spread out and space between tables, stage, food counters will be maximum as per  safe distancing protocols.

Wedding planners and caterers will have to ensure systematic safety protocol, safe and responsible operations, preparation of the food, event crew and vendors safe zone, sanitized kitchen, transportations. Even buffet settings will change to include smaller but multiple cuisines, self serving stations, markings on line to maintaining safe distance at the food counters.

More importantly, venue has to be prepared as per the government instructions. Things like disinfection and sanitization, hygiene, ample toilet facilities, hand wash, thermometer scans, masks, sanitizing stations should be taken care of. People from all walks of life will embrace this form of marriage. The services of wedding planners will be most opted in future.
