Mangaluru, Aug 19: In what can be termed as a crime of passion, a working woman was brutally hacked to death by her husband at a residential locality in Kottara Chowki in Mangaluru last night.

The victim, Blossom Lobo (30), was an employee of a private firm. It is learnt that suspecting Blossom’s fidelity, her husband William Lobo (35) hacked her to death.

According to police, William, who worked at a taxi driver in Bengaluru, came by an auto armed with a weapon and attacked her. Soon after committing the crime, William fled from the spot and went into hiding.

Around 12.45am, William went to police station and surrendered. Police said soon after the crime, entire city was placed under alert and steps taken to ensure the accused could not escape.

The incident took place sometime between 9.30pm and 10pm, police said. While a theory was floated that the incident was a crime of passion, police have ruled out the same for now and believe that the accused made up these allegations, reasons for which is being investigated.

Blossom and her husband William, who hails from Siddapur, Kodagu district were married five-years ago and the couple have 3-year-old son.

While Blossom was working at a private firm in the city and stayed at a rented house, her husband used to work with one of the taxi aggregators in Bengaluru. He used to come to Mangaluru during weekends.

Meanwhile the family members of the victim have brushed aside the allegation of “illicit affair” levelled by the accused. A case of murder has been registered at Urwa Police Station.
