Mangalyan sends the first image of Mars; The view is nice up here

Bangalore, Sep 25: Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) released the first image of Mars clicked by the Mars Orbiter spacecraft, Mangalyaan today in their Facebook page and Twitter account.

India now in the space history as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully inserted Mangalyaan, into the Mars orbit in its very first attempt.

A team of ISRO scientists today presented the first pictures of the Red Planet sent by Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The team, led by ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan and ISRO Scientific Secretary V Koteswara Rao, flew in here to hand over to pictures to the PM.

"A team of @isro scientists presented the 1st pictures from #Mangalyaan today morning. @isro," the PM tweeted.

To this, PM responded, "Yes, I agree @MarsOrbiter, the view is indeed nice up there! @isro."

Modi was present at the ISRO complex in Bangalore yesterday and witnessed the success of the mission on its maiden attempt itself. He had heaped praise on the scientists.

Mangaluru, Jul 2:  A seven-day old baby boy was tested positive for Covid-19, Health Department officials said on Thursday.

The infant is currently undergoing treatment at a designated Covid Hospital here. The baby was born at a private hospital in the city last week. 

According to the officials, it was not known as to how the newborn contracted the infection.

Mangaluru, Jan 10: A person has been booked for forwarding provocative message on WhatsApp against the Dakshina Kannada Khazi Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar.

According to police, the accused Hassan forwarded provocative messages against the Khazi in a WhatsApp group on December 31, following which he was booked under several sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Mangalore North Police are looking into the matter.

Shivamogga, Jun 20: Shivamogga District unit of Congress led by party veteran Kagodu Thimmappa staged a protest against state government's proposal to amend the land reform act, which will allow non-agriculturist to buy farmland.

The leaders of Farmers' Union (Raith Sangh) also staged a protest at Mahaveer circle and questioned CM's stand as he took oath in the name of farmers.

The district congress staged a protest at the premise of the Deputy Commissioner office in Shivamogga city.

The protesters termed Karnataka Government led by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa as an anti-farmers government.

According to Congress and Raith Sang, the proposed amendments to Karnataka State Land reforms act 1961 will cause harm to farmers.

"According to the proposed amendment, non-agriculturists like business tycoons can also purchase the agriculture land. This will help the businessman and will be harmful to farmers," protesters said.
