Kasaragod, Oct 21: Police took into custody a woman on charges of bogus voting in the byelection to Manjeswaram Assembly constituency on Monday.
Sources said the accused Nabeesa, a supporter of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) was trying to cast her vote at booth no.42 at Bakrathbayal AUP school but was pulled up by the Presiding Officer alleging impersonation.
The Presiding Officer objected voting by the accused saying her name was removed from voters list.
Bengaluru, Apr 15: Karnataka government will explore Ayurveda for fighting the deadly COVID-19, Ayurveda practitioner Dr Giridhar Kaje said here on Wednesday.
After meeting the Chief Minister, Dr Kaje informed media that on a trial basis, ten Coronavirus patients will be administered Ayurvedic treatment in a designated hospital.
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has consulted senior doctors on the issue, he said.
Bengaluru, Mar 10: Three more positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Karnataka taking the tally to four, state Health Minister B Sriramulu on Tuesday informed.
"Their family members have been isolated and their health is being monitored. I urge citizens to take precautionary measures and co-operate in preventing the spread of this infection," Sriramulu said.
As on Monday, the national tally of persons affected by the coronavirus is 45.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in the past 24 hours, one positive case from Kerala, two from Pune, and three from Bengaluru have been confirmed.
Apart from the ICMR; National Institute of Virology in Pune; 51 Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories; and National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi are carrying out tests for COVID-19.
Mangaluru, Jan 17: A poultry truck transporting chickens overturned on Friday at Perne village near Uppinangady on Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway, killing 200 of them.
Police said that the truck was headed towards Mangaluru from Uppinangady when the truck driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to topple. As many as 200 chickens were killed in the mishap.
Another vehicle was later used to transport the remaining chickens.
