Hubballi, Oct 25: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has predicted that BJP State president B S Yeddyurappa will become Chief Minister soon after the byelections two assembly seats and three Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.

Addressing presspersons at Honnur village of Jamkhandi taluk, where she was campaigning for the party's candidate, Srikant Kulkarni, on Wednesday, Karandlaje claimed that several Congress legislators were in touch with the BJP.

“Many Congress legislators will resign from the party to join the BJP after the bypoll results were declared on November 6,” she said.

Meanwhile, former minister and BJP Mudhol MLA, Govind Karjol took strong objection to Deputy Chief Minister, G Parameshwar telling the people of Savalagi village in Jamkhandi taluk that they would get the promised road between Savalagi and Jamkhandi within three months if they voted for the Congress. Calling the statement a violation of the model code of conduct, he said the BJP would file a complaint on it before the Election Commission.

Ridiculing JD(S) Supremo,  H D Deve Gowda for backing Congress president, Rahul Gandhi for the post of Prime Minister in 2019, Mr Karjol  said when Congress leaders themselves were dividedon the issue, it was strange that Gowda was backing him.

The BJP leader was referring to the statement of former Union Minister, P Chidambaram that Mr Gandhi was not the party’s Prime Ministerial candidate. “The Congress will be divided in 2019 before the Lok Sabha poll and  Narendra Modi will become PM again,” he asserted.
