He has been accused of intimidating Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha.

Mr. Mari Gowda was produced before the third JMFC court in Mysuru and remanded to judicial custody for 13 days.

When Counsel for Mr. Mari Gowda sought bail, the Assistant Public Prosecutor opposed it and sought a day's time to file objections.

The counsel for Mr. Gowda on Tuesday withdrew the petition after Justice Anand Byrareddy, before whom the petition came up for hearing, orally indicated that he cannot be granted anticipatory bail like in other cases as the person whom he allegedly intimidated was a senior woman officer of the State.

The judge orally told the petitioner's counsel that he could withdraw the petition instead of it being dismissed, and approach the trial court for grant of regular bail after he surrenders before the jurisdictional police.

Earlier, the court wondered how the officers of the State could discharge their duties in situations like the one created by Mr. Gowda, who is absconding ever since Ms. Shikha lodged a complaint against him.

Police, Fire & Rescue officials and fishermen are searching for the body of the accused.

Mahesh was arrested on charge of capturing the video of a minor girl in a washroom on his mobile.

During interrogation, he had told the copse that he had hidden the mobile, which was used to video record the act, near the groyne. Accordingly, the police had brought him to this place.
