Newsroom, Oct 15: Taking cue from Bollywood celebrities, Kannada actress Sangeetha Bhat has broken the silence over the #MeToo movement and unmasked the ugly face of Sandalwood.

In a long post in her social media accounts, the actress has mentioned several incidents of sexual harassment she has faced in the last ten years at the hands of famous actors, directors, producers and other film personalities including a hair dresser.

Sangeetha, who acted in movies such as Preethi Geethi Ityadi, Eradane Sala and Dayavittu Gamanisi, said that they are neither wild allegations, nor made to gain sympathy. The actor said she only wanted everyone to know why she decided to quit the film industry.

She said that she had to hide her marriage to save her career and now that she has decided to quit the industry 'for good', she would continue to act in theatre and short-films.

In a three-page letter, she has shared several incidents of sexual misconduct, abuse and harassment, including the one when she was just 15.

Sangeetha said that she has mentioned just a few of several incidents that have haunted her for years and she finally gathered courage to share them. She said that she was suffering from depression and is still being treated for it.

On the timing of the disclosures, the actress has said, “I have finally decided to unmask myself and live free. Quitting the industry has brought some peace.” She requested the media, family and friends to respect her privacy and not to discuss the issue with her further.

Mangaluru, Jun 1: A youth was hacked to death and two others suffered critical injuries following a fight between two gangs at Yekkaru Devaragudde near Kateel under the limits of Bajpe police station last night.

The deceased has been identified as Keertan (20), a resident of Marakada. The injured are Nitin (20) and Manesh (20). It is learnt that old animosity led to the attack and murder.

According to sources, members of both gangs were friends in the past. They had become enemies of each other following a fight regarding sand mining.

Mumbai, Jun 14: Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday, leaving all his fans and the industry in shock. While the reason behind him taking up the extreme step is still not clear, a look into Sushant’s social media feed suggests that things were not well for him for quite some time.

Sushant had been inactive on Twitter since months. His last tweet was on December 27, 2019. Since then, he did not even reply to any one on Twitter. Same is the case with his Facebook account as the last post on his timeline was on the same date. Interestingly, Sushant's Twitter cover picture is the popular painting - 'Starry Night', by Van Gogh, who had also reportedly committed suicide in 1890.

On Instagram, the young actor had last posted on June 3. It was a collage picture of him and his mother along with a cryptic caption that read, “Blurred past evaporating from teardrops Unending dreams carving an arc of smile And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two...#माँ”.

Was Sushant’s inactivity on Twitter, Facebook and his last cryptic post on Instagram a signal that the actor was having a tough time? Well, may be it will remain a mystery forever.
