Woman gives birth to three male, two female children in Dubai hospital

Dubai, Feb 12: A Syrian mother, Ranim Amir Borak, has given birth to quintuplets – three boys and two girls – via caesarean section at a hospital in Dubai.

The children, born prematurely, are currently at the hospital’s neonatal unit and are in a stable condition.  The children were conceived naturally after five years of marriage.

Dr. Khaled Kouteich, Consultant OB-Gynecologist – Saudi German Hospital Dubai, who delivered the children, said: “During the course of Ranim’s pregnancy she faced several complications, mainly due to the multiple fetuses she was carrying.

Although Ranim’s condition was highly complex and challenging, Saudi German Hospital-Dubai was confident of successfully delivering the children. Interestingly, we were in for a pleasant surprise during the caesarean section.

All the previous ultrasound scans only showed four fetuses, but during the operation we were delighted to find a fifth baby. The mother and babies are recovering well, and we will be offering all possible support to the family during their stay at the hospital.”

Dubai, Jan 8: Iranian state television said on Wednesday that at least 80 "American terrorists" were killed in attacks involving 15 missiles Tehran launched on US targets in Iraq, adding that none of the missiles were intercepted.

State TV, citing a senior Revolutionary Guards source, also said Iran had 100 other targets in the region in its sights if Washington took any retaliatory measures. It also said US helicopters and military equipment were "severely damaged".

Iran launched missile attacks on US-led forces in Iraq in the early hours of Wednesday in retaliation for the US drone strike on an Iranian commander whose killing has raised fears of a wider war in the Middle East.

Sharjah, Aug 3: A 24-year-old Indian engineer has fallen to death from the sixth floor of a residential building on Eid al-Adha in the UAE's Sharjah, a media report said on Monday. 

The electrical engineer, identified with his single name Sumesh, hailed from the south Indian state of Kerala.

He lived in a building in Al Dhaid in Sharjah, from where he fell to death on Friday, the report said, adding that he was apparently talking over the phone and threw it down minutes before the incident.

Sumesh, who came to the UAE a year ago, worked as a designer in Sharjah's Muwaileh area. His roommates said that he had some "personal issues" that had been "bothering him for some time", according to the report.

"It was Eid al-Adha and our cook had made biryani for us. We were all cracking jokes and having a good time. In fact, even Cuckoo (Sumesh) was also laughing with us. He seemed happy. Nobody had anticipated this. I did sense a few times that something was troubling him and I even asked him about it, but he brushed it off," the report quoted his roommate Dileep Kumar as saying.

Shans KF, another roommate, said Sumesh was to travel to India for his annual leave but could not because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The police have launched an investigation and moved the body to the forensic lab for an autopsy.

Cairo, Mar 16: Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman said G20 summit will work to combat coronavirus and coordinate efforts to ease its economic burdens, state news agency SPA said on Sunday.

In a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Salman discussed international efforts to fight the flu-like disease, saying the next G20 summit, which will be hosted by the Kingdom, will work on finding medical solutions, SPA added.

The G20 Summit is an annual gathering of representatives of the world's largest economies.
