Minister Khader gets a rousing reception in Mangaluru

Mangaluru Jun 9: U T Khader, the minister for urban development and housing, today received a rousing reception after landing at Mangaluru International Airport.

Mr Khader, the only Congress MLA and minister from twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, is visiting the city for the first time after swearing in as a minister in chief minister H D Kumaraswamy led coalition government.

Dozens of Congress workers and fans had gathered outside the airport to welcome their leader. However, they had to wait for a long time as Mr Khader’s flight reached the airport at 11:55 though he was supposed to arrive at 9 a.m.

As Mr Khader emerged out of the airport he was lifted by jubilant fans, who kept on raising slogans. Traditional Chende beatings and crackers were also part of the celebration.

The minister headed to Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee office in the city accompanied by the District Congress chief and MLC Harish Kumar, AICC member P V Mohan and others.

we should always respect the people who work for the betterment of society...he is one of that...we sulute you sir...good people are rear to see but more dogs and criminal are found in BJP well...they live luxirous life but splitting venom on other community to fill there bags..only poor people will suffer...i hope DK people will vote for kind hearted and truth member in 2019 election.

Kasaragod, Apr 10: Eleven people died so far in Kerala's northern district Kasargod as they could not access medical facilities in Mangaloru since the border roads were blocked by the Karnataka Government, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

Addressing a press conference at the Government Secretariat here, the Chief Minister said, "It is really unfortunate that people from Kasargod district in Kerala are still being denied treatment in hospitals at Mangalore in Karnataka State."

"We will improve the medical facilities in Kasargod and if necessary, patients will be airlifted to the neighbouring districts in Kerala to provide emergency medical assistance," he added.

Mangaluru, Apr 7: The virology lab set up in Wenlock Hospital here to test COVID-19 samples will start functioning from Tuesday, Karnataka District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said.

In his tweeter Mr Poojary said “After receiving approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV), the Virology Research and Diagnostic Laboratory set up at district Wenlock will start operating from April 7. The samples for COVID-19 will be tested in the district itself. I thank the state government for helping us set up the lab.”

The new Lab becomes the 10th government lab for testing COVID-19 samples in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 26: The Kerala Police on Wednesday arrested a man who had threatened people protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi on social media.

"The person was arrested by Agali police in Palakkad district for trying to instigate communal violence," the Police said.

On Tuesday, Kerala DGP Lokanath Behera had said that strict action will be taken against those who try to create any communal divide.

"Action will be taken against those who create or forward such messages that create communal tension through social media. All messages on social media are under police surveillance," he said.
