Minor girl raped by boyfriend, later by best friend

Mysuru, Oct 22: A minor girl, who was raped by her boyfriend and later by her best friend, filed a police complaint and accused them of colluding in the crime. 

Cheluvaraj and Vijaykumar are absconding after the17-year-old girl lodged a complaint. The girl, who stays in T Narasipura, was in love with neighbour Cheluvaraj. They planned to marry, according to the girl.

Cheluvaraj recently had sex with her and told his friend Vijaykumar about it. A few days later, Vijaykumar started threatening the girl and then he too raped her, police said.

The girl went into depression and later lodged a police complaint. T Narasipura cops said the girl is a school dropout and stayed alone at home after her parents left for work.

Cheluvaraj and Vijaykumar have been booked under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and IPC for rape.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.

Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.

The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.

Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.

Bengaluru, May 21:Tragedy struck an elderly migrant worker who was looking forward to joining his family as he died on reaching a nearby railway station to board a Shramik Special train to his home state Madhya Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

The 69-year old man, who worked in a coffee estate in Chikkamagaluru, collapsed and died soon after getting down from a state-run KSRTC bus that brought him and others to the Chikkabanavara Railway station on Wednesday.

According to police, fellow labourers said he had been ailing for quite some time.

The cause of his death would be known only after a post-mortem, police added.

Karnataka government has been sending back thousands of migrant workers stranded in the state due to the COVID-19 lockdown by arranging the special trains.
