Mangaluru, Jan 16: “I have attended several major events organised by various organisations and political parties at Nehru Maidan. But this is the only event which instigated me to think seriously about life,” said Arun Kumar, city based a college student.

Arun Kumar was one of the thousands of knowledge seekers who were impressed by theThe Miracle', an ongoing exhibition on Islam, organised by Karnataka Salafi Association from January 9 to 15 at Nehru Maidan in the heart of the city.

He also revealed that when hired an auto-rickshaw to the exhibition venue on Sunday evening, the driver Johnson too started praising the exhibition. “This shows how people of all faiths were attracted by this exhibition. I salute the organisers for allaying the misconceptions about Islam,” he added.

According to the organisers, though the majority of the visitors were Muslims, thousands of non-Muslims too attended the exhibition and many of them appreciated the selfless effort.

A talk onthe real message of Quran' by Zaid Patel, the founder of the iPlus Telemedia Private Ltd, on Sunday night attracted nearly thirty thousand people. Husain Salafi, president of Sharjah based Indian Islahi Centre, explained that terrorism and Islam cannot coexist.

The exhibition premises was spread over 30,000 square feet of 400 plus informative panels in English and Kannada. Volunteers explained tenets of the religion to the visitors in two air-conditioned pavilions, for women and men separately, at the exposition.

All the panels at the expo were done based on scientific models. Topics such as embryology that speaks about science and Islam; and dangers of alcohol that tells people alcohol does not make anyone healthy or strong, are explained at length. The other counters relate to wonders of the human body, where the purpose of each part of the body is explained.

There was also section to eradicate misconceptions about Islam and clarify that terrorist organisations such as ISIS that use the name of Islam are in fact anti-Islamic groups. There were also separate video theatres in the two languages that offer multimedia sermons.

"This is an attempt to eradicate evil ideas that people have about Islam. To become good from bad and also a campaign against substance abuse, wastage of food and terrorism. The end result we want is that people of all religion to give away communal thinking and live in peace," said Mohammed Haneef Uppinangady, president of the association.

Commenting on people often linking Islam to terrorism and IS, Haneef stressed that Islam teaches about peace and Holy Book clearly points out that nobody has a right to kill anyone. If one does, he/she is killing the entire mankind. The exhibition also exhorted visitors not to get attracted by the teaching of IS and terror outfits and it is against the religion.

Wake up man.. Even indian media could not prove that Dr.Zakir naik is inspiring youths to join ISIS then how can you prove that. If you have proof of this then go and submit to indian government so that they can take action instead barking here.
One more thing if my allah decide something to happen then it will happen no one in this earth can stop that,... Again no one..

Salafis are the ones who had tried to bring Zakri Naik ( who inspired youths to join ISIS) to Mangalore. Now they are trying to say Islam and ISIS is different. They are fooling people. What they are doing is missionary job. How did mangalore police allow this to happen?

If U depend on false media information about islam and Muslims... Many will lose in knowing the reality of LIFE which the CREATOR has given us... to know the TRUTH about life , we should look into the Source... everything will be cleared when we take the knowledge from the original source...

Non MUslims should atleast read one time \the QURAN\" once in their lifetime at the earliest... to know what islam says about LIFE on this earth and the hereafter .... God can give us LIFE again after death, the way he had given us first time... its simple for him... (Praise b to God alone)"

Bengaluru, May 4: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar on Sunday condemned the arrest of women Congress leaders who were marching to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa's house demanding action against BJP MLAs "caught" repacking food materials meant for Anganwadi children and pregnant women.

Taking to Twitter, Shivakumar posted pictures of the incident and wrote, "Strongly condemn the arrest of women congress leaders who were marching to the CM's house to ask for action against BJP MLAs caught repacking food materials meant for anganwadi children and pregnant women. Earlier, held a protest and PC demanding arrest of those involved in the scam."

Earlier on Sunday, Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claimed that BJP leaders are "stealing" government grocery packets, pasting their photos and providing them to "well off party workers".

Taking to Twitter he wrote, "It is unfortunate that BJP leaders are exhibiting their political cruelty even during crisis. They are stealing govt food & grocery packets to paste their photos and then give it away to their well off party workers."

"Aravind Limbavali and other BJP leaders are caught branding themselves through the government distributed food packets. Nothing is more disgraceful and shameful than this. They should be made to resign & should be arrested," he wrote.

He further asserted that the Karnataka Chief Minister is directly responsible for the leakage. He has allowed his party workers to siphon off poor people's food.

"Shashikala Jolle (Minister of Women, Child Development and Empowerment of Differently Abled, Senior citizens, Govt of Karnataka) should immediately resign for her laxity and allowing her party people to steal from Anganwadi," he added.

Bengaluru, Jan 18: The government slammed Kerala’s tourism department for putting out a tweet on Sankranti Day, promoting ‘beef ularthiyathu’, a specialty in that state, but the move backfired spectacularly with Karnataka’s tourism minister being heavily trolled.

After Kerala put out its advertisement, state tourism minister CT Ravi, seizing the opportunity, took a dig at the Left government in Kerala, saying, “Welcome to Karnataka”. He followed that up with another tweet listing delicious “vegetarian” dishes of coastal Karnataka — a coastline which runs to Kerala.

“Welcome to Karnataka to bring out the Vegetarian in you. Enjoy the flavors of Tulu Nadu – Pathrode, Kotte Kadubu, Halasina Hannina Gatti, Avalakki Upkari, Badanekayi Mosaru Gojju and a whole lot of authentic food to hit Your tastebuds,” Ravi’s tweet read.

Ravi’s tweet sparked a debate between those for and against eating beef, including legislators like Sowmya Reddy (Congress) and Shobha Karandlaje (BJP). Some pointed out that Karnataka is 80% non-vegetarian and an appropriate response to beef curry would have been “pandi curry” (wild pig curry) — a Kodagu specialty.

Realising his tweets were getting more negative than positive traction, Ravi quickly amended his stand and on Friday tweeted: “Nati Koli Saaru Mudde. Aw! Delightful Delicacy of Old Mysuru region. Farm bred Chicken traditionally cooked to perfection and served with the soft Ragi Mudde. You will ask for more !!!”

Bengaluru, Apr 9: The Karnataka government is currently engaged in discussions with experts, specialists and other stakeholders to decide on its lockdown exit strategy and would take a final view by April 13, a key Minister said on Thursday.

"Day after tomorrow we have a VC (videoconference) with the Prime Minister," Medical Education Minister Sudhakar K, who is in-charge of all matters related to COVID-19, noted when asked about the States strategy.

He said a task force of specialist doctors on Wednesday submitted its report to the government, giving its recommendations.

"We are meeting lot of stakeholders of the society taking their views," the Minister said, adding, the Cabinet would also hold discussions.

"Finally, day after tomorrow, after discussing with the Prime Minister during the VC, the government will take a view on this by April 13 or so. As of now, we have not taken any view on it. We are studying all the reports," Sudhakar told PTI.

The Minister observed that the COVID-19 cases were slowly spiking in India but not multiplying the way they have in some other countries like Italy, Spain and the United States as the government had declared 21-day national lockdown early and taken other strict measures. "Let's see for one week and see."

"We need to fight this out collectively and by strictly following the quarantine methods and social distancing," Sudhakar stressed.

The Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had on Wednesday said his government was in favour of lifting lock-down in districts which remained free from COVID-19 after April 14 subject to approval from the Centre.

"If the Prime Minister suggests to States to take decision (on lock-down) based on the situation in their respective States, my position is to take a call (on roll- back) in districts free from COVID-19," he had said.

"This is to allow people to go about their business and move about within the district and not from one district to another, after April 14, after taking the approval of the Prime Minister."

According to State officials, as many as 12 districts continue to remain free from COVID-19.

The task force has recommended continuation of lockdown at "hot spots" beyond April 14.

It has suggested that schools and colleges be shut till May 31, while non-air-conditioned shops can be opened.

Also, IT/BT companies, government offices providing essential services and factories can function with 50 per cent staff, the task force said in its recommendations for 15-day period after April 14.
