Missing Flipkart delivery man found murdered

Bengaluru, Dec 12: A 28-year-old man, who was reported missing since Friday, was found murdered at Saraswathipuram in Vijayanagar on Sunday. The victim Nanjundaswamy of Kaveripura in Kamakshipalya was working at the e-commerce marketplace Flipkart’s Byatarayanapura branch office as a delivery staff, the police said.

deliveryHe left his office for home around 2.30 pm on Friday. As he did not go home, his family members filed a missing complaint in the Byatarayanapura police station on Friday night.

“The police collected Nanjundaswamy’s mobile phone call details. The last call had originated from near a bank at Saraswathipuram in Vijayanagar. As we reached the bank, foul smell was emanating from the basement of the building. We found a decomposed body there,” the Bytarayanapura police inspector said.

On being informed, Nanjundaswamy’s wife and family members came there and established his identity. “There were no criminal cases against Nanjundaswamy and he had a good reputation,” the inspector said. The police have decided to question his family members, relatives, friends and colleagues to get leads about the assailants and the motive behind the murder. Nanjundaswamy was a native of Magadi in Ramanagaram district. He is survived by his wife and a one-year-old child.

Held for drunk driving

The police on Sunday arrested a 30-year-old driver of a private hospital for driving an ambulance under the influence of alcohol.

“The driver Rajesh was on his way home in the ambulance on Sunday. We grew suspicious as he was driving in a negligent manner. We stopped the vehicle near the toll plaza on international airport road and subjected him to alcometer test. He was found drunk,” said a police officer. The police arrested Rajesh and seized the vehicle. There was no one else in the ambulance.

Hyderabad, Mar 28: Seven labourers from Karnataka were killed and four injured when the van in which they were travelling was hit by a truck near Pedda Golconda on the outskirts of the city late on Friday night, police said.

The deceased included two children. Of the 31 workers in the van, five died on the spot and two while undergoing treatment at a hospital, Assistant Commissioner of Traffic Vishwa Prasad said.
Four others were hospitalised and the condition of one of them is critical, he said, adding the other workers in the van escaped with minor injuries.

The workers were on their way back to their home town Raichur in Karnataka as the road project they were working in at Suryapet here was stalled due to the lockdown, Prasad said.

He said initital investigations revealed that the mango laden truck, which was on its way to Gujarat, was overspeeding.

May 12: A Madhya Pradesh Police sub-inspector was fined Rs 5,000 after he performed a daredevil act of balancing himself on two moving cars, copying the famous stunt from Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Singham'.

Manoj Yadav, the in-charge of Narsinghgarh police post in Damoh district, was also warned against any such daredevilry in future, police sources said on Monday.

Sporting shades as the hero of the cop drama film and wearing his police uniform, Yadav got the entire episode video-graphed, they said.

As the video of the stunt went viral on social media, senior police officials took serious note of it as it will send wrong signals to youngsters, the sources said.

Inspector General, Sagar range, Anil Sharma directed Damoh Superintendent of Police Hemant Chauhan to probe the matter.

After an investigation, Chauhan imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the sub-inspector and warned him not to repeat such mistakes.

Pilibhit, Apr 3: Two men were mauled to death by a tiger in the vicinity of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve here, an official said on Friday.

The incident happened in Richhaula Chowki of Gajraula area in the district on Thursday night when Ninder Singh (50) and his servant Dorilal (28) were sleeping on their agricultural field, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Naveen Khandelwal told reporters.

The tiger also dragged them for over 500 metres, he said.

The forest department came to know about the incident when they were informed about it by Ninder's brother after which teams of police, district administration and forest department reached there.

The tiger was tranquillised on Friday by the forest department team and will be sent to Lucknow Zoo.
