Mandya, Feb 25: A man was thrashed at Kala Muddana Doddi, Maddur taluk of Mandya district yesterday by an unruly mob which accused him of raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans.
The youth has been identified as Sadiq, 29, from Assam. He has been working in rice mill at Kala Muddana Doddi for several years. The local police took him into custody for questioning after the attack.
A group of saffron activists who thrashed Sadiq on Sunday claimed that a group of men were returning after visiting the samadhi place of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan H Guru (who was killed in Pulwama terror attack on February 14), at Mellahalli near Kala Muddana Doddi, when Sadiq started raising pro-Pakistan slogans.
The group then thrashed him till the police took him into custody. However, Sadiq has denied the allegation of assailants.
