Modi govt asks Malaysia to extradite Dr Zakir Naik: Report

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led union government of India has reportedly sought extradition of Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, against whom Indian media ran a prolonged campaign last year, from Malyasia.

The external affairs ministry has sent a request for Naik's extradition to the Malaysian authorities after the NIA completed all formalities including collection of evidence, filing of charge-sheet, a news paper reported.

A court in Kuala Lumpur is likely to hear India’s request. The development comes at a time when Malaysia, where Naik has taken refuge, has already said it is ready to extradite him.

Malaysian deputy PM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said in November 2017 that Naik will be extradited if a request is sent by the Indian government under the mutual legal assistance treaty.

In a chargesheet filed on October 26, 2017, NIA had claimed that Dr Zakir Naik insulted religious beliefs of Hindus, Christians and Islamic sects like Shia, Sufi and Barelvi, and his speeches influenced recruits to join Islamic State, a charge rubbished by the preacher.

A special NIA court has already taken cognizance of the chargesheet, in which Naik has been charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity among different religious groups.

its not targeting the scholar ...

its targeting ISLAM

its targeting the TRUTH

its targeting the blind faith from knowing the TRUTH.

its targeting to blind the knowledge of oneness of God (Na tasya Pratima Asti)

In the past there were many who targetted, but Alhamdullillah (Thanks to ALLAH) ISLAM is still ALIVE and No one can white wash it even if they have all the temporary powers they get from the Almighty. Non Muslims should read (thequranproject) online to learn about the POWERFUL ALMIGHTY ALLAH who is the CREATOR of all that EXISTS.... its time to Recognize OUR CREATOR and reject the FASLEHOOD (Manmade gods)  that will be the TRUE SUCCESS in this world and the Hereafter.

O ho ! If the government can bring Zakir Naik to India, why the government can not bring Neerav modi, Lalit modi, Mehul choksi etc to India. (instead PM has friendship with them by meeting Neerav in Davos, appreciating Mehul choksi in a program etc). Is this not a partiality to target only muslims. Looting Thousands of Crores by so many guys  and running away from India is not a matter at all for the goverment ?

Bengaluru, May 10 The asymptomatic and healthy people among international passengers will now have to undergo institutional quarantine for 14 days, according to the new standard operating procedure (SoP) issued by the Karnataka government for a third time.

The SoP, which has been revised twice, was issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department on Saturday, May 9.

The international passengers will be divided into two categories upon their arrival at the airports. Symptomatic will be directly sent to the covid-19 hospitals. Asymptomatic will not be allowed to go home directly. They will be sent for mandatory quarantine for 14 days in hotels and guest houses.

Earlier, international passengers had to undergo seven days of institutional and seven days of home quarantine.

Passengers will also be tested only twice — once on arrival and for the second time on the 14th day — instead of the earlier decision to test thrice. They will be discharged from the facility if they test negative.

The first group of 350 people are expected to arrive from London at 3 am on Monday at the Kempegowda International Airport, said Lakshman Reddy, Joint Director, Social Welfare Department.

Flights are expected from Singapore on May 13, Jeddah on May 14 and San Francisco on May 15.

Among the stranded include 4,408 tourists and visitors, 3,084 students, 2,784 migrants and 557 ship crew.

Madikeri, May 30: Environmentalists have opposed the Karnataka Forest Department and the Public Works Department’s move to erect concrete pillars and marking of trees to construct a proposed road from Patti to Todikana within the Talacauvery Wildlife Sanctuary near Talacauvery in Kodagu District.

They have urged for immediate stopping of road works in a protected area.

In a letter to Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Circle, T Heeralal and DCF (Territorial and In-charge Wildlife) S Prabhakaran, the Trustees of Wildlife First K M Chinnappa and A A Poovaiah have termed the road works illegal and violates Supreme Court order on National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries.

The letter’s copy has also been sent to Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Forest Force), and Kodagu Deputy Commissioner urging them to halt the progress of the road works. “Patti and Todikana are at the core of the Talacauvery Wildlife Sanctuary and such unilateral activities without complete approval on completion of the statutorily mandated procedure (both under Forest Conservation Act and Wild Life Protection Act),” the letter stated.

The letter added that they would be forced to move the Courts and the officers who have given approval to the project would face legal consequences.

Bengaluru, Apr 7: Former Minister and Leader of the Opposition Siddaramiah on Tuesday termed the shutting by private clinics in the state by doctors as an 'inhuman act'.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the Congress leader said due to the fear of Novel Coronavirus, the doctors have closed their private clinics, which was against their profession.

This has affected the people, especially those, who are suffering from other deceases. He urged Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to intervene and resolve the issue immediately.

Despite the government instructions not to close down their clinics, the doctors have not been responding positively, Mr Siddaramaiah noted.

In this connection, the government should act seriously and give necessary warning to the doctors, to either open their clinics to serve the people, or face action, he added.
