Modi govt hungry for publicity:?Kharge

Bengaluru, Aug 16: Labelling the Modi government as “publicity hungry,” Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has said that there had been only talk by the government, and no action on ground.

He was participating in the Independence Day celebrations at the Congress office in the city on Monday. There had been a series of atrocities against Dalits and minorities, he said.

JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda asked the government to immediately withdraw cases against the farmers who took part in the Mahadayi protests. He was speaking at the Independence Day celebrations at the JD(S) party office.

Bengaluru, Jul 30: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP) on Wednesday issued a notice restricting the sacrifice of animals during Bakrid or other religious occasions in certain places.

This year Eid al-Adha or Bakra eid will be celebrated on August 1.

"The administration has prohibited the sacrifice of animals in public roads, footpaths, inside or outside the premises of hospitals/nursing homes, schools and colleges, temples mosques, other religious places or public places," the BBMP said in a public notice.

Person or organisation violating the notice is liable to be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, stated BBMP.

Bengaluru, May 6: Karnataka has reported 20 new cases of coronavirus taking total number of cases in the state to 693.

The state health department said in a bulletin on Wednesday that 20 new cases have been confirmed for COVID-19 in the state. "The total number of cases in the state is 693," it said.

The count includes 354 patients who have been discharged and 29 patients who succumbed to the disease.

Out of the remaining cases, 303 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals while six patients are in ICU. The bulletin has also reported one death due to non-COVID cause.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 49,391, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday morning.

This includes 33,514 active cases and 1,694 deaths due to infection so far.

A total of 14,182 persons have been cured and discharged so far, according to the Health Ministry. One patient has migrated.

Mangaluru, Apr 26: Yet another covid-19 positive case has been reported from Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. 

Health and Family Welfare Department's latest bulletin revealed that a 47-year-old woman from Panemangaluru in Bantwal was tested positive for the coronavirus. 

With this the total number of covid-19 infected people in Dakshina Kannada rose to 19 out of which 7 are from Bantwal taluk. 

According to sources, this woman was working as a sweeper in a private hospital in the city where a coronavirus victim from Bantwal was being treated before she was shifted to covid-19 hospital.
