In a fresh embarrassment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre, Giriraj Singh, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, has been booked in a case of land grabbing along with 32 others in Danapur of Patna district.

On the direction of the Patna Civil court an FIR (NO: 54 / 2018) was lodged at the Danapur police station, on the outskirts of Patna against Mr. Singh, who is a BJP MP from Nawada in Bihar, allegedly for forcibly grabbing over 2 acres of land. Along with Mr. Singh 32 other persons too have been named in the case.

Resident of Asopur village in Danapur Ram Narayan Prasad had, earlier, petitioned in the SC/ST special court that 33 persons, including Mr. Singh had conspired to grab his over 2 acres of land for sale and purchase.

Danapur police station officer-in-charge Sandeep Kumar said that a case has been lodged against 33 persons, including Giriraj Singh under various sections of IPC and SC / ST as well.

Meanwhile, Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal has demanded Mr. Singh’s resignation.

“Will Bihar CM Nitish Kumar or his deputy in the cabinet Sushil Kumar Modi ask Giriraj Singh to resign from his post…he is the same Giriraj Singh from whose house crores of rupees were seized after he had become minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet”, charged leader of opposition, Tejaswi Yadav.

Mr. Yadav also questioned the stance taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Modi on the issue. “Would he now break the coalition with the BJP or, he would resign from his post on the call of his conscienc?. Why is country’s biggest afwah mian (rumor master), Sushil Modi keeping quiet on the issue of Giriraj Singh?”, asked the RJD leader.

Why only this hate monger.  You will find many many more.  95 percent of bjp ministers are looters/decoits/killers/goondas etc etc.  One looter in karnataka is trying to come back to power once again.  Will SC take any action on this land grabber.   SC should seize all his bank accounts and properties.  there might me many properties registered in his close relative names.  SC should investigate this and make it open to public.  However, we should not expect any comments from our non-resident PM.

Feb 26: In a midnight hearing, the Delhi High Court directed police to ensure safe passage to government hospitals and emergency treatment for those injured in the communal violence erupted in northeast Delhi over the amended citizenship law.

The court held a special hearing, which started at 12:30 am, at the residence of Justice S Muralidhar after receiving a call from an advocate explaining the dire circumstances under which the victims were unable to be removed from a small hospital to the GTB Hospital.

A bench of Justices S Muralidhar and Anup J Bhambhani directed the Delhi Police to ensure safe passage of the injured victims by deploying all resources at its command and on the strength of this order as well as to make sure they receive immediate emergency treatment if not at the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital then at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) or Maulana Azad or any other hospital.

The bench also called for a status report of compliance, including information about the injured victims and the treatment offered to them, and the matter will be heard during the day at 2:15 pm.

It said the order be communicated to the medical superintendents of the GTB and the LNJP Hospitals.

The urgent hearing was conducted after advocate Suroor Mander called the judge and sought urgent orders for safe passage of ambulances for the injured.

The Delhi Police and the government were represented through additional standing counsel Sanjoy Ghose.

During the hearing, the bench spoke over phone to doctor Anwar of the Al-hind Hospital in New Mustafabad who told the court that there were two bodies and 22 injured persons there and he had been trying to seek police assistance since 4 pm on Tuesday without success.

The court then directed the senior officials to reach to the hospital forthwith, following which they started the process of evacuating the injured to the nearest hospitals.

It also said this order be brought to the knowledge of the Delhi Police Commissioner.

Communal violence over the amended citizenship law in northeast Delhi claimed at least 18 lives till Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the violence escalated in northeast Delhi as police struggled to check the rioters who ran amok on streets, burning and looting shops, pelting stones and thrashing people.

Idukki, Jun 8: Devikulam MLA S Rajendran from CPM along with supporters staged a protest by blocking the Munnar-Udumalpet interstate highway here on Monday, demanding that action to be taken to prevent wild elephants entering into human settlements and destroying properties.

The protest started at 9.30 am and demand was made that senior forest officials should give them assurance of putting an end to the problem.

A police team led by Munnar Deputy Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramesh Kumar was camping in the area.

Wild elephants from the nearby forest are frequently trespassing into Munnar and last night two elephants destroyed a vegetable shop in the town.

If it was a lone elephant that the locals nicknamed as Padayappa that used to enter the human settlement, now along with him a baby elephant is also coming to the town at night.

The locals have named the second elephant Ganeshan. Though there were instances of them destroying crops and eating from vegetable shops, till now the duo has not attacked humans.

Mumbai, Aug 5: A day after the Bihar government requested for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the Centre has accepted the state’s request.

The CBI, which falls under the Union Home Ministry, will now take over the probe. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on Wednesday stated in the apex court that the Centre has accepted the request floated by the Nitish Kumar government recommending a CBI inquiry.

A bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy observed that truth behind the 34-year-old Rajput's death should come out. "Truth should come out so far as actor's death is concerned," the SC bench said as reported by news agency.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is also hearing a petition filed by model-actress Rhea Chakraborty who was in a relationship with the deceased actor. In her plea, she sought the transfer of an FIR lodged in Patna by Rajput's father, K K Singh, who had accused her of abetting his suicide.

The 34-year-old actor was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.
