Bengaluru, Dec 22: Scores of fans of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah today participated in a march in support of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the capital of Karnataka.

The pro-government agitators also emphasised on the need to create awareness among others and said that the people who are protesting against this new Act are not familiar with the clauses of the Act.

"All the people of Bengaluru have gathered today to support the CAA Act which has been brought by the Central government...The misinformation campaign has to be dispelled and the outreach programme has to commence. Many independent thinkers have organised this demonstration and certainly, in the coming days, more support will swell up," said one of the enthusiastic supporter while speaking to media persons.

"We held a silent gathering in support of the CAA...People protesting against it do not know what is CAA... What is CAB? No one can oppose it as it has been framed by the Constitution. The laws are framed by the Indian Constitution. No one will be discriminated on the basis of the Act. One must go read the entire Act thoroughly,"

The supporters were seen holding placards with the slogans " CAA is secular, India supports CAA, CAA is good for India". They were also shouting slogans in support of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre.

CAA grants Indian citizenship to all non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, who entered India on or before December 31, 2014. However it considers Muslim immigrants as infiltrators.

Kozhikode, Jun 14: A mosque in Kuttichira of Kozhikode has found a unique way to avoid crowding amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The committee that runs the mosque has started issuing smart cards to people for offering prayers and simultaneously encouraging social distancing.

"The committee has given smart cards with numbers to the people in the surroundings of the Masjid. One who enters the mosque premises has to rub their hands with sanitizers. They also have to tell their identity on camera. The automatic system has been put in place to save the address and phone number. Next time onwards they have to say their smart card number only so that other details will be automatically filled," said Muhammad Sajjad, who is part of the Mosque committee.

"The door of the mosque will open automatically after swiping the card. We have fit in a sensor on the doors. We have also made marks inside the mosque area so that people can abide by social distancing norm," he added.

A couple of days back the Kerala government has rolled out an order allowing the opening of places of worship, malls and restaurants from June 9 in strict accordance with guidelines and social distancing norms. As per the guidelines, pregnant women and those with co-morbidities should not visit any places of worship. Those with symptoms should not be allowed.
