Modi's so called popular schemes were just renamed and originally belonged to Cong: Kharge

Kalaburagi, Mar 7: Congress leader in the Lok Sabha M Mallikarjuna Kharge today alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's so called popular schemes were originally belonged to Congress and they were renamed to gain political mileage.

Stating that Mr Modi's contribution to the most backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region and particularly to Kalaburagi is nil, Mr Kharge said that all most all the programmes and schemes launched by NDA government led by BJP were merely renamed versions of schemes launched by the previous Congress governments and no new populous schemes of BJP was launched so far though Modi government completed five year term in office at the Centre.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Kharge said "Mr Modi was taking my name in the Parliament during the Session but he did not take my name during his public speech yesterday because he has no word to say that does not connect me with regard to development of the region."

Mr Kharge said that in his attempt to destabilise the Congress-JDS government in Karnataka, Mr Modi has called Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy as 'remote controlled' but the fact is Mr Modi is remotely controlled by RSS Chief sitting in Nagpur.

The seasoned Congress leader, Mr Kharge, who has won for more than 12 times including Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, declared that Lok Sabha 2019 election will be his last election and he will not contest in any more election because of his age factor.

Udupi, May 23: Five more persons tested positive for coronavirus in the coastal district of Udupi today. 

They include three men aged 37, 55, 31 and two women aged 48 and 34. 

Among them four are returnees from Mumbai and one is foreign returnee.

With this the total number of covid-19 cases in the district rose to 55.

Mangaluru, Apr 13: City Commissioner of police P S Harsha on Monday warned people, not to use drones illegally for filming or any other purposes.

Speaking with this regard Harsha said on Monday ,''“We have noticed that persons are illegally using drones to film Mangaluru city. If this continues, we will not only seize the drone but will also take firm legal action against the person responsible. Because Mangaluru is a sensitive place with lots of vital installations.''

He further requested the media houses also not to hire drone services for filming or any other purposes.

Bengaluru, Mar 25 : Karnataka recorded its highest single-day tally to date, as 10 people tested positive, taking the total number of cases to 51 in the state.

“Till date 51 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state which includes one death and three discharged," the health department said in a statement on Wednesday.

The rise in cases adding to the growing national tally of people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The daughter of a former union minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Karnataka has also tested positive.

Bengaluru accounts for 32 of the total 51 cases recorded in the state so far,including three who have fully recovered and released.

Dakshina Kannada has five confirmed cases, Chikkaballapura and Kalaburagi has three cases each, Mysuru has and Uttara Kannada has two cases each and four other districts have one case each.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a 21-day lockdown of the country to keep people indoors and contain the spread of the virus in the community.

The government has also been trying to scale up testing.

Medical education minister K.Sudhakar on Wednesday told Mint that Karnataka will scale up testing by 10-fold with the help of government and private labs approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

A total of 2,438 people have been tested in Karnataka and 2242 have tested negative, according to state health department. 214 people are lodged in medical hospitals.
