Jeddah: The 10th Annual general body meeting of the Karnataka Non Resident Indian Forum, Jeddah was held at The Village Restaurant Azizia, Arbaeen st. Jeddah on the 09th of July 2017.

Syed Nasir Khursheed welcomed all the committee members, life members, sponsors and guests to the meeting. Highlighted KNRI activities and great achievement carried over by outgoing president Mr. Roshan Rodrigues along with committee members. Later he invited Dr. Firoz Mulla who was the Anchor for this AGBM. Anchor Dr. Firoz Mulla officially announced the start of AGBM and introduced himself to the gathering and in his introduction speech, he said it is an honor to be a part of the KNRI forum because of its services rendering to the needy kannadigas and others as well.

Out going President Roshan Rodrigues welcomed all the members to the AGBM. He had briefed the activities of the KNRI and its recognition because of the team work of EC members as a one family. Thanked all the members for giving him support

General Secretary Yashwant Amin presented the Annual Report. A power point presentation was made to highlight the achievements for the year 2016-2017. He has presented detailed information in each category, like education, medical, Labor food crisis, toilets projects back home, other causes etc. He has highlighted and applauded also for the major contributions made by the individuals’ committee members’ personal contribution besides the support of Forum. He has informed the gathering about our new project started last year which was toilets project in different places back home in Karnataka, huge appreciation had received from the local public also support had been extended financially to this project

In the absence of our Treasurer, Yashwant Amin, General Secretary presented the financial report and highlighted the receipts & payments, Income & Expenditures details for the year 2016-17. He also informed that the renewal of the certificate as per the State Government of Karnataka Society Act.

Two members of the committee, Mohammed Ilyas Momin and Dr. Ashfaque Maniyar conducted the election to elect the new executive committee. Mr. Mohammed Saifuddin Sami was elected as new President for the Year 2017-2018.

The newly nominated team is Mohammed Saifuddin Sami – president, Syed Nasir Khursheed – vice President Membership, Dadapeer Hayath – Vice President Admin , Yashwanth Amin – General Secretary, Aijaz Ahmed – Treasurer, Sayed Kowsain Pasha – Joint Treasurer, Shaikh Saoud – Joint Secretary, Altaf AlMelker – Meeting Coordinator, Sabu Chandran – Sports Secretary, Rajesh Kumar – Joint Sport Secretary, Mohammed Kaleem – Cultural Secretary, Mohboob Ali – Joint Cultural Secretary, Mohammed Salem Khaleefa – Press Secretary, Dr. Firoz Mulla, Faizee Razak Sheikh, Jalal Baig as Membership Coordinator, Suresh Babu – IT Coordinator , Tanveer Ahmed Asst. I T Coordinator.

Executive Committee Members : Roshan Rodrigues, Mukarram Khan, Mohammed Saheb, Habeeb Rahaman, Krish Jangal, Mohammed Mansoor, Mohammed Ilyas Momin, Dr. Ashfaque Maniyar, Mohammed Arifulla, M.R.Shareef, Mohammed Asif Momin, Nazir Ahmed, Peter Mascarenhas & Manzour Ahmed.

Mohammed Saifuddin expressed his happiness and gratitude. In his first speech as a President, he thanked all the members for showing confident on him and he will do all possible to take the KNRI Forum, Jeddah to higher level and assured to maintain the dignity of the forum. He recalled outgoing president Mr. Roshan Rodrigues commendable job during his tenure and requested his full support and cooperation along with all other members.

General Secretary Mr. Yashwanth Amin informed the forum that he will do his best to support the team in his second term as a secretary.

Syed Nasir Khursheed thanked members for trusting him and selecting as VP membership, he assured membership derive will be expedited with the help of all members.

Dadapeer Hayat also thanked members for unanimously selecting as a VP Admin is a honor for him to serve with more responsibilities.

Newly joined excom members Mohammed Arifulla, M.R.Shareef, Mohammed Asif Momin, Nazir Ahmed, Tanveer Ahmed and Jalal Baig expressed their happiness being part of KNRI family, they said we feel overwhelmed due to warm welcome from senior members.

Sabu Chandran delivered vote of thanks in which he expressed deep sense of appreciation towards all the members for attending this event and making it successful and thanked everyone separately, also thanked those who helped the forum directly or indirectly.

Program concluded with entertainment, delicious dinner served by Village Restaurant and group pictures followed by national anthem.

Kuwait: The Covid-19 pandemic has pushed the whole world into a difficult situation and the situation of Indians in Kuwait is not any different. Many people have lost their jobs, have no salary, are deprived of food and are not able to pay rent. The appalling conditions of labourers, domestic workers, taxi drivers and low waged earners don’t seem to end in Kuwait. 

At this trying situation when many people were even afraid of leaving their houses because of coronavirus, Suresh S. Rao Neramballi, volunteer of the Food Kit Distribution at the ICSG (Indian Community Support Group) has helped many tremendously. He was ready to go around delivering food kits at any time possible by his car. However, after Kuwait imposed a full curfew from 11th May 2020, no one could take out their vehicles unless they had a curfew pass. 

This did not stop Mr. Suresh Neramballi, who then borrowed a bicycle from a friend and ended up going around in the cycle delivering the food kits in curfew break time (4:30pm to 6:30pm) to all those who registered in the ICSG website. This selfless service surely commands appreciation and applause. Mr. Suresh Neramballi has been a light for many families and bachelors in Kuwait and will surely garner the blessings of them who have been able to eat at this time.

He was also the one who could deliver the food kits to many Indian Muslim maids, bachelors, laborers and families previous day and right on the day of EID, as they were not able to go shopping for their groceries for EID, due to the curfew. They blessed him in EID dua. 

Mr. Suresh Neramballi hails from Mangaluru, India and is an Engineer in the Oil sector company in Kuwait. He has been dedicated to social service, achieved 'Aryabhata International Award' for his Kannada Service and Social service, served in many Associations and Distributor of Kannada and Tulu Movies in Kuwait. He wholeheartedly thanks the people and government of Kuwait for his bread and butter.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.
