Ballari, Sept 22: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha announced on Thursday that flights would be introduced from the airport at Vidyanagar, Sandur taluk, to Bengaluru, Goa and Mumbai soon.
He was speaking after inaugurating flight services to Hyderabad under the UDAAN scheme.
A total of 30 new airports would be opened in the country in the days to come as part of the scheme, all at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, the minister said.
District incharge Minister Santosh Lad said the state government had set aside Rs 89.29 crore for developing airports in places like Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Hassan, Ballari and Shivamogga.
