Tumakuru, Jan 22: The mortal remains of Dr Shivakumara Swamiji, the revered pontiff of the Siddaganga Mutt, was laid to rest, as per the rituals of the Lingayath religion, in the Mutt premises, amidst the galaxy of the dignitaries, who had paid a tear-ful homage to the departed soul on Tuesday.
Former Prime minister, H D Deve Gowda, Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, Union Defence minister Smt Nirmala Sitaraman, Union minister for Fertilisers D V Sadananda Gowda, Puduchery Chief minister Narayanaswamy, former Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, S M Krishna, Jagadish Shettarm Home minister, M B Patil, Deputy Chief minister Dr G Parameshwara and scores of other dignitaries and lakhs of devotees had paid their homage to the seer.
The last rites of the Swamiji, ‘Kriya Samadhi’ was done at a specially decked tomb, located inside the Mutt premises, after the body of the departed Swamiji was taken out in a flower decorated cart in the premises.
