Mother-son Shot Dead Outside Their House in Meerut, Murder Caught on Tape

Lucknow, Jan 25: A mother and son were shot dead by three miscreants outside their house in Meerut.

The double murder was recorded by the CCTV camera installed outside the house of the victims in Sorkha Village of Partapur locality in Meerut.

The CCTV footage of the incident showing three men shooting the elderly woman has gone viral.

Culprits reloaded their weapons thrice and made sure that lady was dead before leaving the crime scene.

The deceased woman and his son were witness in the murder of her husband and had been under pressure to withdraw from the case. They were scheduled to appear in court to testify in the case.

Video of the incident shows the elderly woman lying on a charpoy outside her house with another elderly woman, when three men surround her. The other woman walks away as three start shooting. They fired nine shots at the elderly woman. The CCTV footage shows the woman struggling until the culprits fire last three shots in her head from point blank range and then fleeing.

The situation was tense in Meerut as the news of the double murder spread and the CCTV footage of went viral. ADG Meerut Zone Prashant Kumar has said that the culprits have been identified and no one will be spared. The culprits will be arrested soon.

CM Yogi Adityanath had called a high-level meeting and summoned key police officials for a meeting over increasing crime incidents on Tuesday.

Speaking to News18, Senior BJP Leader Laxmikant Vajpayee said that the criminals are having a good time and its high time that responsible officials should be punished. "Encounters are useful when they establish fear of police in criminals, but currently criminals are having a good time due to laxity of some officials. Such officials should be punished immediately," he said.

Six migrant workers have been killed and five others seriously injured when a speeding bus ran over them on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway near in Muzaffarnagar, officials said on Thursday.

The accused driver, who was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested, said SSP Abhishek Yadav.

The workers were going on foot to their homes in Bihar from Haryana when they were hit on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway between Ghalili Check Post and Rohana Toll Plaza, about 20 km from here late last night, the official said.

The injured -- Sushil, Nathu Saini, Pawan Saini, Pramod and Ramji Rai --were rushed to hospital.

Two of the deceased were identified as Bijender, 25, and Harsh, 20. The rest were yet to be identified.

Kochi, Feb 6: A 46-year-old Thailand national was allegedly raped by two men here, following which they were arrested, police said on Thursday.

The accused hailing from a north Kerala district have been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman.

Police said the accused-- Mohammed Insaf and his friend Ansaruddin from Kondotty in Malappuram district were arrested after recording the statement of the victim.

The woman from Thailand had been a Facebook friend of Insaf for the last seven months after she enrolled her child in a school in Malappuram district.

The woman who came from Bangkok recently to visit her child and was staying in a hotel here.

When Insaf came to meet the woman, he was accompanied by his friend Ansaruddin and both allegedly raped the woman at the hotel room, police said.

All formalities including medical examination of the woman were completed, police said.

The accused will be produced before the court on Thursday, they added.

Jun 5: The fear of contracting COVID-19 infection allegedly forced a 65-year-old man to commit suicide in Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred at Mangewadi in Patoda on Thursday, when a passerby found the body of Asaram Pote hanging from a tree in his farm, an official said.

The police were immediately alerted and Pote's body was brought down in the presence of his relatives and locals, he said.

A suicide note was found on the deceased's person, in which he said that he had taken the extreme step as he was scared of contracting COVID-19 infection and no one should be held responsible for his death, the official said.

A case of accidental death was registered in this regard and further probe was underway, he added.
