‘MPL-2018 to promote peace and harmony in Mangaluru’

Mangaluru, Feb 4: Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium of Panambur in Mangaluru is all set to host the fourth edition of the Mangalore Premier League (MPL) T20 cricket tourney from March 20 to April 1 this year.

The event will be jointly organized by the Brand Vision Events Management Company, Mangalore Occasionals Club and Sea bird Cricket Academy, Mangaluru. With the motto “Let’s be united through the game”, the organisers claim that the tourney will bringing harmony, peace and unity among people of the region.

As part of preparation to the event, a gala meet was held at Hotel Goldfinch, Mangaluru on Saturday, February 3, wherein the organizers, sponsors and cricket team owners took part. The organisers claimed that the sports and games are a means in bringing peace, harmony, unity among different communities. Speaking on the occasion, Manohar Amin, the convener of KSCA, said that Mangaluru, which has produced great cricketers like K L Rahul, houses a great number of budding talents too.

He told that KSCA needs help from the government to establish a standard cricket stadium in the city. A stadium can help the young cricketers reach greater heights and become the players of higher level of cricket. If the land of at least 10-15 acres provided by the government, the KSCA will immediately start the construction work of the stadium by its own money.

He announced the names of the participating teams and issued team ownership certificate to the following franchises: coastaldigest.com (owners: Dawood, Azhruddin and Asif), Karkala Gladiators (Avinash Rao), Bedra Bulls Moodbidri (Mithun Rai), A.K. Sports, Udupi (Sheesh Mohammed), Wise Warriers Suralpady (Addu Majid), Mangalore United (B A Mohiuddin Bava), United Ullala (U T Khadar and Ismail), Classic Bantwal (Hamza Dejempadi), Ali Warriers (Ashpaktara), T4 Super Kings (Macnil Noronha), Mastro Titan.

Mr Nehal of UM company who is sponsoring  an American Bike to the Man of the Series of MPL has conveyed his greetings to the MPL players to give competitive performance to win the bike, he said.

Bhavana, the sandalwood actress, said “We should appreciate the effort of MPL organizers for providing a platform for budding cricketers to unearth the hidden cricket potentialities at a time when the city is hitting headlines for bad reasons. She advised the people to promote peace and harmony and to establish a beautiful and peace-loving society in the region.

List of Players

The list of players for MPL auction was also released in the function and handed over to the team owners.  This year around 30 national/ state level/ Ranji players were included in the list. A few of them are: Kranthi Kumar, Sadiq Kirmani, Kranthi kumar, Praveen Dube, K.B.Pawan, Stalin Hoover, Deekanshu Negi, Rakshith, Abhinava Manohar, Abrar Khazi,  Akhil B, Naveen M G. Suchith, Siddarth K V, Bavesh, Amith Verma,  Mohammed Taha, Subhang Hegde, Kunain Abbas, Raju Bhatkal, Rohan Kadam, Ronith More, Vishakh, Deve Padikkal, Zeeshan Ali Vishwanath,  Sakkuje.

Besides, 40 players of A category, 80 players of B category and 150 players of C category are waiting for the MPL auction programme to test their luck. The player’s auction will be held on Feb 17, at Forum Fizza Mall. Live coverage will be available through V4 channel and channel one webcast.

Sirajuddin, Chairman of MPL, Imthiaz Ahmed, Balakrishna Parkala and Shashidar Kodiakal were present at the gala meet.

Mangaluru, Mar 25: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has so far given nod to three private laboratories in Karnataka for testing COVID-19. The ICMR comes under the Department of Health, Government of India

The three labs are KMC Hospital Manipal, Shankar Research Centre's laboratory, and SRL laboratory on Bowring Hospital Road at Shivajinagar, Bengaluru.

Eight private labs from Maharashtra, two from Haryana, three from Tamil Nadu, four from Delhi, and three each from Karnataka and Gujarat have been given permission. 

These labs have over 15,000 collection centres all over the country. Blood samples and throat swabs of coronavirus suspects can be given at these centres.

Puttur, Jan 4: As many as 27 passengers travelling in a private bus escaped with minor injuries after it toppled and fell into a roadside trench at Amai near Perne on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway last night, police said on Saturday.

Police said that the driver of the Bengaluru-bond bus lost control over the vehicle while traversing through the narrow bridge at Amai.

The bus was damaged in the mishap.

this is one of the important case that now seen to be increasing these days.  and one of the most problem that is faced and had has to be found a solution is overspeeding by bus driving which have resulted in enomours numbers of accidents with negligence of passengers lifes inside the bus.  passengers safety and lifes are not given value anymore. and another important factor is overspeeding in humps  which have resulted in backbone injuries in high number of passengers

Udupi, Jan 8: Senior journalist Raviraj Valalambe passed away due to suspected cardiac arrest on Tuesday night at his residence in Kinnimulki, here. He was 50.

Raviraj was rushed to a hospital after he complained of chest pain. He breathed his last on way to medical facility.

He was the director of Prime TV, a local Kannada news channel.

He had worked as a reporter for ETV and Suvarna News channel earlier.

He is survived by wife and two daughters.
