MPL fest, trophy launch at Panambur beach on Nov 27

Mangaluru, Nov 26: As a prelude to the much awaited Mangalore Premier Leaugue – 2016, the Karnataka Regional Cricket Academy will be holding an MPL fest and trophy launch ceremony at Panambur Beach on Sunday, November 27.

Announcing this at a press meet here, Sirajuddin, Imthiyaz, the office bearers of KRCA, and Gowtham Shetty, MPL coordinator, said that the fest is being organized with an aim to unite all the cricket lovers under and promote harmony.

The event will include many entertaining activities like family cricket, shoot at the stump, kite flying, sand art, sand mountain competition, run and rotate etc.

All the family members can take part in these games without any entry fee and go back with hands full of prizes. Also there is a raffle draw wherein winner will get an iPhone.

The trophy will be launched in the presence of VIPs from India and abroad and owners and players of 12 team of the MPL.

As part of this fest, a bicycle rally under the slogansave fuel and cleanliness' will also be held from Manipal to Panambur. The rally will pass through Katapadi – Shankarpur – Nandikoor - Padubidri.

Besides, a motorbike rally will also be held in which players of 12 MPL teams and cricket lovers will partake. The rally will start at 3.30 p.m. from Nehru Maidan in the city.

The tournament will be held at B R Ambedkar Cricket Stadium, Panambur from December 17 to 30 this year.

Bengaluru, Feb 25: In the view of 2nd PUC exams from March 4, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has approved free travel for students from home to exam centre on Monday.

"BMTC has extended free travel facility to all PUC students from their residence to examination centre on production of exam hall/admission ticket," said a press note.

BMTC has been issuing student concessional passes to travel from their residence to college at concessional rates for the benefit of students.

Chikkamagaluru, Mar 8: A 20 member armed gang barged into a farmhouse at Gudde Thota near Jayapura in Koppa taluk and looted valuables and cash worth about Rs 12 lakh after assaulting the inmates, Police said on Sunday.

According to police, the culprits covered their face with masks and after assaulting watchman they broke open the main door and tied up Vijayaraghav and his wife Asha before robbing the valuables.

The culprits took away Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and valuables worth over Rs 10 lakh.

Bengaluru, Jul 15: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced temporary halt of production at its plant in Bidadi, which is on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

“Halting production will be from July 14 (second shift) to July 22 (first shift) and this is in accordance with the directives issued by the Government of Karnataka as well as to support the Govt. in their constant efforts to flatten the curve of the rising Covid-19 positive cases in Karnataka,” a statement from the company said.

Bengaluru Urban and Rural, and other districts are, are under lockdown from 8 pm on July 14 to 5 am on July 22.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, TKM has adopted a very proactive and multi-faceted approach to safeguard the physical as well as the mental well-being of all its stakeholders including customers, its employees, dealer and supplier partners,” the company said.

“The office staff at TKM’s corporate and regional offices, continue to work from home to help mitigate risks. In addition to the safety protocols that are being followed, TKM has provided safety kits containing essential items like sanitisers, 3 ply masks and handwashes to 5000 employees, their family members and their neighbourhoods.

“TKM understands the urgency of the situation. During these difficult times, TKM is taking obligatory actions to contain further spread and will continue to respond in accordance with guidance issued by the Government and its internal standards,” it added.
