Mr Dubai Indian bodybuilding championship attracts hundreds of musclemen

Dubai: More than 600 musclemen from India and GCC are expected to vie for the first ever Mr Dubai Indian Bodybuilding Championship in December.

Al ZSeal Fitness Centre is conducting the championship for Indian nationals under the aegis of Emirates Body Building Federation (EBBF) and Indian fitness and bodybuilding federation, the organisers said. The competition to be held in Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai on December 18 and 19.

Claiming to be the biggest body building competition in the UAE for Indian community members, many Indian body building coaches and champions are expected in the contest which aims to promote the sport among Indians in the UAE and back home, said Imran Khan of Dubai Indian Committee.

Abdulkarim Mohammed Saeed, Second Vice President, Technical Committee of Emirates Body Building Federation, Iqbal Abdul Hameed, Brand Ambassador of Mr Dubai Indian Chamiionship, were also present during the announcement.

“Body building is still a popular sports in the UAE and in India. We believe that there are more than 600 coaches in various fitness centres and gymnasiums in the UAE and this championship is mainly targeted at the Indian body builders,” said Imran Khan from Al Zal Fitness.

He pointed out that Bollywood superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, John Abraham, Ajay Devgan, Shahid Kapoor, are also engaged in body building.

"It is not only the Indian coaches in the local gyms and fitness centres, but Indian students working out in various gyms can also participate in the championship," he said announcing prize money for the championship.

“It is the first time that such a body building championship is conducted in the UAE and the winner will get Indian Rs 1 million prize money plus the championship trophy and certificate,” he said, adding that the competition is only for Indian expatriates. The first runner up prize will be Indian Rs500,000.

The competition will be held in six different categories –60 kgs -65 kgs, 65kgs-70 kgs, 70 kgs-80kgs, 80kgs-90 kgs and 90lgs-100 kgs and 100 kgs plus category.

Winners of each category will be eligible for the final round. Every category will have first runner up and second runner up prizes.

A website dedicated for body builders and the event will be launched. A book containing all details of every gyms of UAE with GPS location, contact address and photos and clients feedback will be available.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.
