MSNM Besant Institute of Post Graduate Studies organises Crash Course in UGC–NET/SLET

Mangaluru: MSNM Besant Institute of Post Graduate Studies organised a crash course in national eligibility test and state level eligibility test (UGC– NET/SLET) for the faculty members of the various educational institutions and post graduation students of the region. This test determines the eligibility of Indians for Lecturer or Assistant/Associate Professorship & Junior Research Fellowship. The two-day programme was held at MSNM Besant campus at Bondel, Mangalore on November 21 and 22, 2019. The objective of the programme was to acquaint UGC-NET/SLET aspirants to clear the exams. 72 participants from 23 colleges attended the programme.

Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P., Principal, Besant Women’s College inaugurated the programme.  He stressed on the relevance of the UGC NET / SLET exams in selecting candidates for fellowship and lectureship. “Besides serving a noble profession, government faculty positions offer better work hours, an attractive salary package and other benefits,” he said. He urged the participants to undertake research after successful completion of the NET / SLET exams in order build a good career in teaching. “Stay calm and focused, prepare well and never lose confidence,” he advised the participants.

Prof. Ajaya, Faculty, Govt. First Grade College, Mudipu, Dr. Therese Pereira, Faculty, Govt. First Grade College, Car Street, Dr. Ravisha B. and Prof. Muddassir Khadar, Faculty Members of MSNM Besant Institute of PG Studies are the resource persons for the training programme.

Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director, MSNM Besant Institute presided over the function. Prof. Chandrika welcomed the gathering. Prof. Ashalatha gave a vote of thanks. Prof. Nanditha Sunil compered the programme. Prof. Suresh Shenoy was the programme coordinator.

The Alumni Association members along with the members of Women’s Cell organized a programme to celebrate Women’s day and felicitate the student achievers in various fields.

The programme began with a prayer song by the members of the Women’s cell. Among the dignitaries were Sr Dr M Jeswina A.C, Principal, St Agnes College, Mrs Geanette Dsouza, Vice President, Agnesian Alumni Association, Ms Vivid Dsouza, Convenor of the programme and Secretary Agnesian Alumni Association, Mrs Jyothi Cutinha, Joint Secretary Agnesian Alumni Association. 

The college president, Ms Jerusha Maben welcomed the gathering followed by a welcome dance. The student achievers of the college were honoured by the Agnesian Alumni Association;

Agnesian Outstanding Leader Award sponsored by Mrs Carol Pais in honour of her parents Mr Philip and Mrs Mariette Pais is awarded to Ms Jerusha Maben of III BCom.

Agnesian All-Rounder Award sponsored by Mrs Marjorie Texeira is awarded to Ms Anna Una Crasta of II MA English.

Agnesian Scholar Award sponsored by Dr Meera Aranha is awarded to Ms Shane Joveeta Jovet of III BCom.

Agnesian Best Sports Woman Award sponsored by Mrs Daisy Coelho is awarded to Ms Anusha K.J of III BSc.

Agnesian Best NSS Volunteer is awarded to Nerissa Clementina Noronha of III BCom.

Agnesian Best NCC Cadet Award (Army Wing) is awarded to CPL Melani Lobo of III BCom.

Agnesian Best NCC Cadet Award (Air Wing) is awarded to CWO Vanditha Anusha Dsouza of III BSc.

Sr Dr M Jeswina AC presided over the programme congratulated all the student achievers and wished them the best.

Mrs Carol Pais compered the programme and Ms Vivid Dsouza, Secretary of Alumni Association proposed the vote of thanks.

Mangaluru, Jan 14: The Star Education Institute organized Talents day celebration on 14th January 2020.

This program was presided by Janab Muhammed Saleem Malar, the Director of Star Education Institute, who gave the message about the encouragement of students talent.

The Chief guest of today’s program was Sunil Kumar Bajal , Ex- President old students union Mangaluru, who gave a message about Young generation and their role in the development of the nation.

Mrs. Prabha Naveen, Principal of Star Education Institute who gave the report of the activities of the Institute.

Mohammed Fatheen SPL and Zohara Farahath Secretary were also present on the dias.

Miss. Raksha P. J Science faculty welcomed the gathering. Miss Dipthi D’silva, Commerce faculty and Miss. Thanushree Computer faculty call out the prize list. Mrs. Deepa Lokanath, Commerce faculty proposed a vote of thanks. This programme was anchored by Mrs. Mohini. S. Thereafter the cultural programme was presented by the students.

St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, which is celebrating its centenary year, celebrated 99th college day and merit programme of the academic year 2019-20 in P.U College Auditorium on February 11.

Ms. Philomina Lobo, Retired Director, Secondary Education department of public instructions, Government of India was the chief guest of the programme. The programme began by evoking the blessings of God. Sr Dr M Jeswina A.C, Principal, St Agnes College, Sr Dr M Maria Roopa A.C, the Joint Secretary, Mr. Ronald Pereira PTA Vice President, Mr Charles Pais the Controller of Examinations ,Dr Subha Rao were  present.

Ms. Seemanthini, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications presented the annual college report digitally, highlighting the achievements of the institution, staff and students for the academic year.

Addressing the students, Ms Philomina Lobo advised, “You have knowledge and intelligence but you need to pray for wisdom. Use your talents in the right way.” She also mentioned that the companies today are looking forward for skilful youngsters and asked the students to “be skilful” in order to achieve success in life.

Students received Principal's role of honour, various scholarships and merit certificates for their excellence in academics. The cabinet members of the current academic year were also awarded on the occasion. The Principal gave a token of gratitude to Ms Philomena Lobo, who is also an alumna of the college. Mrs Meera, HOD, Department of History proposed the vote of thanks.
