Mangaluru, Jul 2: All three personal assistants of U T Khader, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, have lodged complaint with Mangaluru East Police against Muneer Katipalla, the state president of Democratic Youth Federation of India for levelling false allegations against them and attempting to defame the minister through social media.

The development comes after Mr Katipalla claimed on his Facebook wall that a person claiming to be the PA of Mr Khader called Mangaluru jailor and asked him to take good care of NaMo Naresh, the prime accused in RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder case, and shift him to a private hospital.

Mr Katipalla went on to claim that when the jailor did not care the caller, the latter threatened the former with all sorts of “punishments”.

In their joint complaint, Praveen Kumar JP, Mohammed Libzeth and Vijaykumar, the three personal assistants of Mr Khader, made it clear that none of them had contacted Mangaluru jailor in connection with the arrest of NaMo Naresh.

The complainants have urged the police to conduct an inquiry into the issue and take necessary action against Mr Katipalla for attempting to defame the minister and his personal assistants through Facebook posts.

Meanwhile, the jailor himself rubbished the allegations made by Mr Katipalla and clarified that he did not receive any such call from the minister's PA or anyone else.

Expressing shock over the allegations, Mr Khader said that the one who made the allegations should provide proof. “When I was informed about the Facebook post, I personally contacted the jailor and he was not even aware of the incident,” he said.

Mr Khader said that the DYFI leader had tried to defame him through false and baseless allegations in the past too. “The same person had once blamed me for the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver,” the minister recalled. He also urged to police to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.

On the other hand Mr Katipalla has justified his Facebook post and claimed that Mr Khader had links with several Hindutva leaders.nareshkatipalla

Ordained by Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami of the mutt, Dewan Sharief Mullah claims he was taking the step not under any duress but after being "guided by the almighty".

"Nobody asked me to do it. The almighty came in my mind and guided me.... They have put the sacred thread and given me the responsibility. They have given me the 'Ishta-linga' and this honour. I have done the 'Ishta-linga dharan'. I will walk on the path of dharma. Love and sacrifice is the message given to me. That is what I want to propagate," he said.

Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami said, "It does not matter what caste you belong to. If God appears to you for a path of goodwill and sacrifice, you will do it regardless of the manmade restrictions of birth and caste."

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is facing major dissent within the party and the BJP MLAs held a meeting on Tuesday night at former Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar's residence to discuss the functioning of Yediyurappa-led government, said BJP sources.

According to BJP sources, some of the unhappy BJP leaders and MLAs met last night at Shetter's place and expressed that they are not satisfied with Yediyurappa's leadership.

Last night's meeting shows that party leaders are looking to bring down Yediyurappa from the Chief Minister's post by sending a clear message to the high command that Yediyurappa is incapable of continuing as the CM, said BJP sources.

Other sources in BJP have also asserted that BJP leadership in Karnataka is looking for a "leader" who can lead the party in upcoming elections which is going to be held after three years. At this point of time, it's crucial for BJP to promote second-line leadership.

Meanwhile, a letter is being circulated in the BJP party forum and over social media against Chief Minister Yediyurappa's leadership.

It looks like the same team which is unhappy with Yediyurappa's leadership is trying to convey the same message to their high command. The letter which is being circulated says to be written by one of these leaders' groups against Yediyurappa and his son Vijayendra.

On this, Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy told media, "Maybe the letter is written by the same MLAs because after the expansion of Karnataka cabinet so many leaders from BJP were kept out."

"There is a lot of discontent among BJP MLAs that the ones who have toiled for the party day and night have been neglected from the cabinet expansion. This will definitely result in destabilisation in the government," said Eshwar Khandre, KPCC Working President.

Now party high command needs to look into Karnataka leadership to manage the government in the state.

"Now BJP leadership in Karnataka and Delhi need to look into the matter and need to solve the issue after cabinet expansion," said a BJP leader.

Mangaluru, Jun 11: City police on Thursday filed a 700-page chargesheet in connection with the arrest of Aditya Rao, 36, accused of planting an IED at Mangaluru International Airport on January 20.

The chargesheet said the bag placed near MIA entrance had a real bomb, as per the FSL report. The IED in the tin box was made of sulphur, ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate and charcoal.

Rao, an engineer, who learnt bomb-making through online videos, had also placed a timer along with it and sharp objects such as nails and metals. However, he had not fixed wires to trigger a blast. “His intention was not to cause a blast but only to create a scare,” said sources.

The bomb was made in less than two weeks. However, it had taken Rao several days to procure raw materials. Police had completed the chargesheet process in April.
