Munnabhai actor Vishal Thakkar accused of rape, assault

Mumbai, Oct 19: A 26-year-old woman who has acted in films and TV serials has registered a rape, cheating and assault case against actor Vishal Thakkar with the Charkop police station. The woman has alleged in her complaint that the accused had promised to marry her but after having physical relations with her he went back on his word.

VishalPolice said Thakkar is wanted in the case and they are looking for him. The police said Thakkar and the woman met a few years ago during a shoot and soon started dating each other.

They became close friends and were in a live-in relationship. Police sources said according to the statement given by the victim, Thakkar suspected she was having an affair with someone else and this led to regular fights between the two.

She also alleged that Thakkar used to assault her because of which she left the house and started living with a friend. The woman registered an FIR with the Charkop police station on Saturday.

She alleged that Thakkar came to her friend’s house two days ago and even apologised and tried to convince her to get together again. She told the police that the same night Thakkar stayed at her friend’s place where he assaulted her and later raped her.

“Following t he woman’s statement, we have registered a rape case and several other relevant sections of the Indian penal code have been added,” said Ramchandra Gaikwad, senior i nspector, Charkop police station. “We are looking for him and will arrest him soon,” Gaikwad added.

An FIR has been registered against the actor under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 323, 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation), they said.

Thakkar has done small roles in movies like Tango Charlie and Chandni Bar. He now appears in TV?show, Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma.

Mumbai, Feb 27: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday said it's with constant education that a country, a family can move forward as there is never an end to learning.

In December last year, when the actor visited the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, the La Trobe University announced the 'Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University PhD Scholarship'. At the event to announce therecipient of the scholarship here on Wednesday, Shah Rukh said it was his honour to lend his name or be attached to the scholarship.

"I am a big believer in education. I truly believe that the way forward for any country, any family, city, state is by educating itself more and more.

"There is never an end to education. I've come to realise the more I know, I figure out, the less I understand. It's very important to keep educating ourselves for the rest of our lives.

"I've always believed education in India and elsewhere in the world, is the most important step forward for any nation," he said.

The scholarship aims to provides an opportunity for an aspiring female researcher from India to undertake research.

The 54-year-old superstar said what also will help taking the world move ahead is educating women.

"Related to the fact, is of course, education of women, empowering women, to look after themselves to look after their families...

"If you are able to empower them with education, the world goes even further forward," the actor added.

Chennai, Feb 10: The Income Tax Department on Monday summoned Tamil actor Vijay over charges of tax evasion and his alleged links with financier Anbu Chezhiyan.

The development comes after the IT Department on Friday carried out a raid at the actor's residence in Panaiyur area in Chennai.

IT sleuths held searches in connection with the success of a recent film which was a Box Office hit, collecting around Rs 300 crore.

As per sources, the IT Department on Thursday recovered Rs 65 crores from the residence of Vijay's alleged financer in Chennai during raids which were carried out in the connection with the tax evasion case linked to AGS Cinemas.

Mumbai, Jul 17: After helping scores of stranded migrant labourers return to their native places amidst the coronavirus pandemic, actor Sonu Sood has now extended a helping hand towards the coronavirus warriors as he donated 25,000 face shields to Maharashtra Police personnel.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday took to Twitter to thank the Bollywood actor for his "generous contribution" to help the Police personnel who have been working tirelessly amid the testing times.

"I thank Sonu Sood Ji for your generous contribution of giving 25,000 #FaceShields for our police personnel," tweeted Deshmukh.
Responding to the Home Minister, Sood said, "Truly honoured by your kind words Sir! My police brothers and sisters are our real heroes and this is the least that I can do for the commendable work which they have been doing. Jai Hind."

The 46-year-old actor who is known for his roles in films like 'Singh is Kinng,' 'Simmba', and 'Happy New Year' has been hailed all over the media for arranging hassle-free passage of migrant labourers to their respective homes.
