Muslims, Christians in India were Hindus: Praveen Togadia

Praveen Togadia Ahmedabad, Dec 19: Adding fuel to fire in the recent conversion-row, working president of right-wing organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Pravin Togadia said ancestors of Indian Muslims and Christians were Hindus.

œThe ancestors of Indian Muslims were Hindus. The ancestors of Christians were Hindu too. History says that many people converted to Islam due to atrocities and by the force of the swords of Moghul emperors, Togadia said last night at the golden jubilee celebration of VHP at Bhavnagar town in Gujarat.

œAt present, in this India, there is no atrocity or force on Hindus. In such a situation, if someone wants to return to the Hindu society, the Hindus should accept him whole heartedly, added Togadia.

A controversy erupted after a right wing group'Dharma Jagran Manch' had organised a reconversion ceremony naming it as'Ghar-wapasi' (home-coming) and had allegedly converted about 100 people, mostly poor Muslim slum dwellers, through a ritual carried out by the Hindu organisation on December 8 in Agra of Uttar Pradesh.

BJP MP from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath had also justified the act of the Hindu organisation and said that it is an ongoing process and will continue to happen. Adityanath also batted for a strong anti-conversion law in Uttar Pradesh on the lines of legislation adopted by several states. This created ruckus in both houses of the Parliament as the Opposition demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the alleged conversion. The main accused and convener of the organisation in Uttar Pradesh, Nand Kishore Balmiki was arrested on Tuesday by Agra police.

Karnataka govt to build guest house for Kannadiga pilgrims in Ayodhya

Bengaluru, Aug 8: Anticipating a huge number of pilgrims from Karnataka to start visiting Ayodhya following the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ram temple, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Friday requested his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath for two acres of land to build a 'yatri nivas' (guest house).

"A large number of pilgrims from Karnataka would be visiting Ayodhya. The government of Karnataka wishes to construct a yatri nivas for the pilgrims visiting Ayodhya," Yediyurappa wrote to Yogi.

"I request you to grant two acres of land in Ayodhya for this purpose," he said.

The Chief Minister said the yatri nivas will be constructed for the benefit of pilgrims from the southern state.

He also congratulated the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for successfully laying the foundation stone for the Ram temple on Wednesday.

Our ruling govt is only interested in RAM Mandir and spending crores of rupees for the temple. Why the other community is not demanding fund from the GOVT?

Dengue claims life of another woman in Puttur

Puttur, June 19: A 32-year-old woman in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district died due to complications caused by dengue yesterday.

The deceased is Naseema (32), wife of Nazeer Master, a resident of Parpunja village in the taluk.

She was not well for past few weeks and she was diagnosed with dengue fever with chills a week ago.

Initially she underwent treatment at a hospital in Puttur. After her condition worsened, she was shifted to a private hospital in Deralakatte.

However, she breathed her last without responding to any treatment last night.

Naseema is the second victim of the mosquito-borne infection in Puttur taluk this month. Last week, dengue had claimed the life of a woman in Bettampady village in the same taluk.

Police arrest 20 persons for misbehaving, obstructing a medical team

Kasaragod, Jun 2: Kumbala police on Tuesday arrested 20 persons on charges of misbehaving and obstructing a medical team who were on official duty for Covid-19.

Police sources said the incident occurred at Kumbala beach near here on Monday evening when a group of locals misbehaved and obstructed an eight-member medical team, comprising of doctors and health workers, from carrying out a survey to asertain whether there has been a community spread of Covid-19 in that locality.

The health team was on a mission to gather data of people who had interacted with expatriates after they had returned to hometown recently.
