Mandya, Sept 26: In a gesture that promotes communal amity, a group of Muslims at K R Pet town in Mandya district yesterday offered food to hundreds of Hindu devotees on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
An idol of Ganesh was installed near the town by residents, with the support of shopkeepers. A special puja was organised on Tuesday.
Muslims from nearby areas, with the support of a few shopkeepers, prepared and brought a huge quantity of kesari-bath and khara-bath to the place, and offered the same to the visiting devotees.
Some also offered fruits and flowers and attended the special pujas and bhajane programme.
