Muthalik's bid to enter trouble-hit Mysuru averted; sent back from Maddur

Mysuru, Mar 20: The Mandya district revenue officials and police prevented Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik from entering the district, on Saturday, following a notice issued from the Mysuru police to maintain law and order.

mutalik Mr. Muthalik, a controversial leader known for his provocative speeches, was heading to Mysuru to meet the family of BJP worker Raju, who was murdered at Kyathamaranahalli in Mysuru, recently.

Mr. Muthalik had also planned to address mediapersons in Mandya and Mysuru. However, the police stopped him at Nidaghatta, Mandya-Ramanagaram border, on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway.

On Saturday morning, Vidyaranyapura police, in Mysuru, had issued a notice to Mr. Muthalik instructing him not to enter Mysuru. They met him at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, and issued the notice.

In spite of the issuance of notice, he tried to visit Mysuru.

The Mysuru police requested the Mandya district police to prevent his entry, a senior police officer said.

Not to be heard for so long period of time...useless creature looking to create more and more problems around...does not like people living in peaceful manner...and looking to put more salt in to painful wounds...should get this creatures out from the country permanently...

Better, Mysore will be saved from the few who just create troubles without verifying and following blindly when the evils of our society spills the venom.

Raghavendra Kini is the new chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority

Udupi, June 26: BJP leader K Raghavendra Kini has been appointed as the new Chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) by Government of Karnataka.

A well-known businessman, Raghavendra Kini is also serving as the president of Kunjibettu Consumers’ Multipurpose Co-operative Union.

Along with him, the State Government has appointed Suma Naika, Praveen Kumar Shetty and Kishor Kumar as members of the Authority.

Police seize 15.5 kgs of gold from car at Bekal, arrest two smugglers

Kasaragod, Feb 5: The customs officials has confiscated 15.5 kilograms gold from a car at Bekal near here on Wednesday.

Sources said, acting on a tip-off, the customs sleuths intercepted a car at Bekal, and seized the yellow metal which is being smuggled by the occupants into Kerala.

The police also managed to arrest the two youth identified as Khetan (29) and Akash (23), both natives of Maharashtra. They had hidden the gold in the cushion.

The accused confessed that the gold was being transported from Thalassery to Maharashtra illegally. The custom officials are investigating to find others involved in the case.

Udupi: Deep-sea fishing boat sinks; six fishermen rescued; loss estimated at Rs 80 lakh

Udupi, May 20: All the six fishermen were rescued from a deep-sea fishing boat, which capsized after hitting a rock near Malpe here yesterday.

The boat was owned by Reshma Kharvi. The incident occurred while the boat was returning after fishing to Malpe harbor.

The helmsman lost control over the boat after steering got damaged and hit the rock and damaged.

The crew of another boat which was near to the sinking boat immediately rushed and rescued six fishermen.

Attempts to rescue the sinking boat using the yet another boat could not materialise.

The loss is said to be about Rs 80 lakh, including Rs. 5 lakh worth items, including fish, net, and other accessories. The boat ventured from Malpe port on May 14.
