My kids don't keep a tab on my career: Shah Rukh Khan

October 15, 2014

Mumbai, Oct 15: Having a globally recognised father may not be very easy for kids to deal with but Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says his stardom has never had a negative impact on his children.

Shah Rukh KhanThe 48-year-old actor, who has three children -- Aryan, Suhana and AbRam-- said in the beginning they were conscious of having a star father but their upbringing has been such that they don't care about his fame so much.

"We have never subjected our kids to the stardom. When they were born I was already a movie star. What has been clearly told or understood by them is that I work very hard.

"Initially, yes when I used to go to school they felt awkward because everybody was referred to as Ramesh's father or Geeta's father - but I was called Shah Rukh Khan. My daughter used to be a little taken aback. But no they are not embarrassed of me," Shah Rukh said.

The actor said that he neither forces his children to watch his films nor do they have any idea about how much money his movies make after its release.

"My son Aryan never comes for my shows or shootings. My children have been brought up in such a way that whatever I do outside of our house is not something they have to necessarily keep a tab on.

"They don't know the collection. Maybe after a few days my daughter will ask me if the film did well. It is not necessary for them to watch the film just because I star in it. My daughter watched my last film 'Chennai Express' a week an a half after its release and that too because her friends wanted to watch it at home. My son hasn't seen it yet," he said.

Shah Rukh, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming Diwali release 'Happy New Year', was recently in London, where his 16-year-old son currently studies, for a promotional tour for the film.

The actor said Aryan's teachers had come to see the concert. "When I was doing a show in London, all of Aryan's teachers came to see me. I had invited them and Aryan as well."

Shah Rukh, who is seen sporting an eight-pack abs for the Farah Khan-directed film, said his son loves to keep fit.

"Aryan came to the gym and I actually I worked out the way he does as I like the way his body is. He also plays rugby and loves to be fit," he said.

'Happy New Year', which also star Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah, releases on October 24.

Mumbai, Jul 2: The Mumbai police have summoned noted filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for questioning in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case. According to several reports, casting director Shanoo Sharma too might be questioned in connection with the star’s death.

Reports also state that Kangana Ranaut and Shekhar Kapur, who are not directly involved with the investigation, are likely to be asked to record their statements.

The development comes days after the cops had asked for the details of SSR’s contract with Yashraj Films. The MS Dhoni actor had starred in Shuddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, which were backed by the banner. He was supposed to team up with YRF for Paani, directed by Kapur, but the movie was on hold due to creative differences between the Mr India helmer and the production house.

Sushant died by suicide on June 14, leaving his near and dear ones in a state of shock. Following his demise, fans alleged that several Bollywood biggies had tried to sabotage his career as he was an ‘outsider’, reigniting the nepotism debate.

SSR, who hailed from Patna, made an impact in the TV industry before entering Bollywood with the sleeper hit Kai Po Che. He impressed fans with his performances in PK and Shuddh Desi Romance, consolidating his standing in the industry. It was, however, MS Dhoni that established him as a bankable star. Chhichore was his last theatrical release before his death. Drive, backed by Karan Johar, released directly on Netflix. His last film Dil Bechara is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 24.

Mumbai, Jan 4: After the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur constituted a panel to decide whether legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poem 'Hum Dekhenge' is offensive to Hindu sentiments, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar had a cryptic take on the burning controversy.

"Best time for the rich & small businesses to make money as most of the population are engaged with a revolutionary poet named Faiz," Sircar said in a tweet.

The poem, penned down by the iconic poet in 1979, came into limelight again recently during the protests against CAA and NRC in IIT Kanpur.

Earlier on Thursday, senior lyricist Javed Akhtar rejected the claims about the poem being 'anti-Hindu'.

IIT Kanpur on Thursday had set up a committee to look into the issue.

The move came after a complaint that the students who took out a peaceful march in the campus on December 17 against the Citizenship Amendment Act and in solidarity with Jamia Millia Islamia students, sung it as a mark of protest, which hurt the sentiments of other communities.

The CAA grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians who faced religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
