Mysuru, Dec 20: Tension prevailed in Mysuru on Wednesday morning after an anonymous bomb threat call to the city police.
According to reports, an anonymous caller called the Mysuru City police control room at about 8 am, threatening that a bomb had been placed in the People's Park in the city.
Situation turned tense for a while because the park is opposite the public bus stand.
The city police, bomb squad and sniffer dog unit rushed to the spot, searched and found a suspicious device connected to a battery, close to the bus stand. The object was immediately taken to People's Park behind Mysore City Bus Station and examined. Later, it was taken to FSL Laboratory.
Nazarbad police have registered the case and are investigating.
Mysuru Commissioner Dr A Subrahmayeshwar Rao ruled out the news of bomb threat and claimed that it was just a power bank. Sixty battery cells and wires detected in the box. He also appealed the people to maintain peace and not to pay heed to rumours.
