Vijayawada, Jan 24: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Saudi Aramco vice-president (international operations) Said Hadrami at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) summit at Davos on Tuesday.
Mr. Naidu explained to the Aramco representatives that Andhra Pradesh was making rapid strides and taking necessary steps and creating investor -friendly environment.
The ease of doing business was also improving in Andhra Pradesh. The speed at which projects were being implemented in the State speak volumes of the government efforts to promote the industry. Aramco can invest in oil refinery in the State, he said. Mr. Naidu invited the Aramco to attend Partnership summit being conducted at Visakhapatnam in February.
Mr. Hadrami said that they were very impressed at the efforts taken by the Chief Minister to attract investors, and assured him that their team would hold talks with the government at the end of this month.
It may be recalled that Mr. Naidu held parleys with major Saudi Aramco during Davos meet in 2017. The company had assured that it would send a team to AP in 15 days to explore the possibility of developing a refinery. After the team's visit, Andhra Pradesh will also send a team to Saudi Arabia for further discussions. This was decided during the Chief Minister’s meet with Aramco’s representatives last time.
Inviting them to get involved in setting up a Petroleum University in the State, Mr. Naidu explained Andhra Pradesh’s interest in petrochemicals, the potential in Krishna Godavari basin, the idea of Petroleum University, the technology and the skilled workforce available in the State.
